Re: Kolpin Fuel and Water packs...

Why do you think the military uses them silly???? Seriously though.....perhaps they both stand up well construction wise.....I'm still curious as to whether or not the Koplin/Geri/Expedition One cans leak or not. Oh....and by the way....look at the pic again and you can see at the bottom end of it and how it's squeezed together just a tad from where he drove up on it.

Re: Kolpin Fuel and Water packs...

I found some mixed reviews on Cabela's site. Apparently leakage is an issue for several peeps Customer Reviews

It's really unfortunate about the leakage I was thinking these things were cool. In one of the reviews a guy stated that there was no rubber gasket, I wonder if that was the problem?

They also look like they would double as a back/neck brace for moving injured folks. I like the style. If you could prove they dont leak I could fit 4 on the roof rack, But then plastic and expanded steel+ vibration= holes.

But will they leak like the Wedco and other steel Jerry cans????
IIRC, all issue that have been brought about with Jerry cans and leaking have been the plastic style, whether that be the blitz or scepters. Leaking is a non-issue of the steel, wedco variety.

It does have some other disadvantages, rust, but not leaking.

Re: Kolpin Fuel and Water packs...

I thought I remember someone saying the metal ones leaked. Maybe it was the French cans So the plastic cans are getting holes? This is the first I've heard of this.

holes???

The spot for leaks is the lid. The lids on the steel cans is this locking latch mechanism that is very solid and takes some grunt to remove. I have only heard of plastic cans, be that scepter or blitz, leaking through the lid.
