This will be my first time there but I've heard a lot of good things about it. Wheeling at BVORR is only open to the public on 2 Sundays a month, following the local TX4WD club 2pm meeting.

Hello all,
We are so happy to be new FJ cruiser owners and to join the forum. Our FJ is a used sun fusion/TRD pkg '07 model. We bought because we got stuck in the snow at our retreat in the Sierra's. It has 31K miles. It is my wife Sherry's new baby since our 8 boys have all left home, finished college and best have jobs I see more FJ Cruisers now that we own one. Our neighbors can't help but enjoy gazing at the yellow beast gracing our driveway. Is it best to stop before going into 4 wheel drive. My wife got some grinding during a shift. -What did we do wrong? Thanks Ron O

Ok, I think I've finally gathered all the evidence I need to describe my problem.

So I JUST bought a 2007 FJ from the dealer today, and on the way home, I notice this wretched screeching, squealing, creaking noise coming from behind the dash, seemingly from the brake pedal at first. It happened about every 20-30 seconds. Of course my first hour behind the wheel of my new rig is ruined (bless my 97 4Runner's soul...). Before I go back to the dealer tomorrow and raise hell, I want to know exactly what's going on.

When I popped the hood, I noticed that the brake accumulator was rattling first before the screeching started. As soon as it rattled, the screeching happened right after.

Can anyone tell me exactly what is happening and what the repercussions are?

This first video is a clear sample of the noise I'm hearing. The pic is of the brake accumulator on the master cylinder:

So I've had to flip my seats up a couple times now and noticed two things that I don't think are right, but looking for a comparison to other FJ's.

When I go to flip the bottom portion forward to drop the seats, I pull the string at the back of the cusion and it doesn't seem to move any release; just pulls up. Is this correct or should a mechanism be moving? The passenger side (large side) always hangs up on the bolt in the floor. I've had to push from the front of the cushion towards the rear of the vehicle while pulling up on the pull string to get it to release. The driver's side doesn't "latch" into place. It flips forward and goes back down w/out ever engaging the "latch".

What is normal operation for these things? The ones in our 4Runner seem to be latched until you release the latch by pulling the pull tab at the rear of the cushion. Then they latch again when you drop them back into place.

Just wondering before I take it in for it's first service at 5,000 miles. That way I can just have it fixed.

I'm usually the guy at the dealer that immediately says no to any and all paint protection deals that they try to lock you into at signing but I ended up getting the XZilon paint protection at signing as a side bonus since my salesperson had been slightly....how should I say this......WORTHLESS.

It was the dealerships way of saying, here's a little kiss ass from us. I'm sure I'm paying for it someway some how, but my monthly payment didn't go up after it was added on so, what the hell.

My question is does this actually work or did I just get an extra coating of clear coat? The finance guy claims it protects from.....

Paint scratches

Bug guts

Fading

Vandalism a.k.a paint

and road grime

...he also said it's guaranteed for 5 years. Did I just buy some snake oil or is there some truth to these claims?

Like I said I'm not too concerned about getting it since it didn't affect my monthly payment, but I've never dealt with paint protection items before.

I traded in my 2004 Chevy Silverado work truck and couldn't be happier. I was one of the people caught up in the stop sell and have been eagerly awaiting this day. I got a hell of a deal on my trade and the finance guy even threw me a few bones on my rates seeing as how I am just outta bankruptcy (just over 4% on interest rate).
I've already got my first mod planned and that's to attach my FJCruiserforums.com forum badge to my grill.

Can't wait to get on some trails and have fun. :rocker:
