Rear Door Cargo Case

I found a rifle case at the surplus that fits great on the back door. There are two attachment points on the door that I utilized with longer screws, washers and spacers and the handle in the middle goes under the window latch for more support (although it is really not needed). As you can see, there are a lot of attachment points for more gear on the front of the case for straps, e-tool, flashlight, air compressor, and first aid kit. I actually keep my fishing poles in the rifle pouches. I thought this was a great find for $65.

Roof light wiring

So this thread http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/how-technical-articles/63628-oem-switch-panel-designated-switches-locations.html identifies the wiring for the upper left dash.console switches - is for the roof lights.

Since the wiring - in mine at least - is already there behind the blank switch, where can I find the other end of the wiring? Do I need to remove the front of the roof rack to access the wires? I'm guessing that they would run to the front of the rack for light in an airdam if I had one.

Anyone know for sure?
THANKS!

Well I've had this idea for quite sometime and always wondered if it would ever work.

What I had in mind was putting some sort of horizontal frame on the back door, attached where the 4 spare carrier bolts are and clamped on to the edges like the Gobi ladder. This would push the spare more to the left and attach a gas can holder to the right of it.

My thinking is that pushing the spare to the left, reduces the stress on the hinge from the spare. The gas can would only be attached and filled when needed. I'm assuming 30-40 lbs for the gas when filled pushed out even further away from the hinge compared to traditional spare mounts. Not really sure of the overall (hinge) stress between the two set ups.

What I see.
Good:
-Less stress on hinge for majority of the time (when gas can is not filled)

Bad:
-More weight with metal frame
-Possibly more stress with full gas can
-Less rear window visibility
-Rear window is useless

So before I bought the FJ, I had a 2004 F150. It had this awesome overhead rail system with lighting and storage. Before i sold it I seriously contemplated pulling it out for the FJ.... but it would have ruined the headliner and my resale. So.... I never stopped thinking about it, and today look what Mister Postman Dropped off.

My wife was involved in a little parking lot mini accident which scratched my Right Rear End cap. The scratch exposed the black plastic underneath.

I have been contemplating doing a black out and I was wondering if I might be able to do it without painting but sanding it with a fine sand paper and an orbital sander.

Has any one tried this? any pictures of the results?

I wanted to paint my front bumper wings and lower fascia black. I just completed the bezel around the headlights it looks great.:rocker:Being in arizona has really dulled the original bumper color it is a really dull black.:mecry:Has anyone out there repainted their entire front bumper? My method of painting was adhesion promoter, paint, clear coat. Should I be worried about the color not matching the wings if I repaint the entire bumper?
