I have been debating which GPS to purchase for both on and off-road travel, I have received input on the Lowrance Baja 540 from several forum members attesting to its off-road capabilities but I there is no doubt there are better units for street use. That being said, I have come across the Garmin Streetpilot 7000 series. Anyone have any real world experience with these units?

Not an audiophile here, but I know what sounds decent. I replaced front door speakers with some 6X9 Kickers. Awesome, what a difference! Even without an amp and Toyota head unit. My question is that if that simple speaker replacement did so much in front, what if I simply replaced the OEM 8" subwoofer speaker with a better aftermarket sub, will I get noticeablely better and louder bass? I don't need or want a thumper, just a little improvement. All opinions appreciated.

As above and I am thinking a sub is critical. The installer says new head unit will help (of course). Can the existing front speakers be used with new rears (built-in), sub and headunit + amp(s)? Does the factory head unit really suck badly--can amps 'fix' it? Which headunit--I don't give a darn about big lighted video screens, though I will use an Ipod (I am currently and it works fine operating from dash mount).

Thanks.

Ok I keep going back and forth on what I should purchase as a first radio. I like the idea of an HT as I could use it almost anywhere. But also like the mobile as the higher wattage may be nice in a back country emergency.

Your thoughts ?

SuperBrightLEDs Flasher Relay problem

I've got the SuperBrightLEDs solid state flasher relay in the truck to stop the turn signals going into rapid flash. It works great, but it broke the locking indicator light functionality. So when the truck gets locked, the lights no longer flash. The odd thing is, if you leave the turn signal stalk pushed to either side, that side of lights *will* flash (very briefly) when the truck is locked.

This is the second relay I've tried, so I suspect it's a design flaw rather than a defect.

Has anyone used this relay, seen this behavior before, or have a fix for it? (in terms of a fix, I've ruled out using resistors.)

If you've installed a HID kit and now have radio static there's a fix. I followed the advice of JoeUser in this thread:

http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/stereo-electronics-electrical/87491-wierd-radio-station-static-please-help.html

Basically you just need to run the grounds for both ballasts to the negative battery terminal. This requires lengthening the passenger side ground cable and only takes a few minutes depending on how you've run your wires. I did this last night and my radio reception seems to have returned. I just wanted say thanks to JoeUser and let people to know that there's a simple solution out there.

(09's and 10's come stock with this) I'm looking for a post from someone who has re-routed the image to an aftermarket head unit with back up cam function. Has this been done? The reason i ask is that i'm assuming that you'd have to purchase a camera as an extra accessory in addition to the head unit. Is this correct?

Anyone have an idea of what's going on? :thinkerg:
