hey everyone,
IV been a lurker here for about 2 months now, scrounging whatever useful information i could digest from the pages of this site.
Well, no more, because today the Toyota dealership called and said they would have my new FJ on the lot in about 10 days or so. so i figrued it would be a good time to become a member and start posting.
Im getting a 2010 Trail Teams SE and i got it out the door for about 33K, what ya think?

anyway i thought i'd say hi, and il be sure to put some pictures up when it comes in.

My question is, what are some things that some of you older members recommend as necesity acessories to get right away or things to watch out for in a brand new FJ?

Now mind you this is our first time using the pocket camcorder (Kodak Zi8). We shot this in 720p but it can shoot in 1080p as well. No real footage of the FJ but it is shot FROM the FJ... looking out into the beautiful scenery we had on our little outing. Don''t mind the song... it was not planned to be playing but if you are wondering who it is... it is The Avery Brothers.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all. Just purchased my first Toyota and I wanted to say hello. I must say I am impressed so far.

Picked up a 2007 Titanium Silver FJC last Friday (when it was snowing!). She only had 11K miles on her - One owner vehicle originally titled in Ohio. The day after purchase, I took her to my friend's body shop and we spent about 4 hours on it. Wash, cut down, polish, wash, and wax. This took out any and all minor scratches on the paint.

Looks like the previous owner installed spacers (LIFTTOY ??) up front to level it out a bit. Brand new 285/70/17s A/Ts on it, 6MT, Locking rear, roof rack, sonar, fairly basic but very happy. $26K out the door. Plus they actually paid us 600 more for our Outback than what we paid 6 months ago (bought that used too).

Monday morning I am taking her down to get the front windows tinted to match the rear and a clear bra (to include minor touch ups on a couple paint chips).

Since I have been lurking on here though, I have gotten a tad concerned/worried/paranoid about some of the issues out there. Throw out bearings, bulges/tears. What gives? I thought I was buying a Toyota - i.e. great track record. Oh well... I guess all companies have their issues. Only thing is, now I am paranoid about something happening. No bulges and no problems with the tranny... yet. Are these things I need to be overly concerned about? I really just want to enjoy the ownership of this thing.

I have to say though, I love the build quality of this thing. My other car is a 2006 Audi S4. Hard to beat that interior but the fit and finish of the FJ is great in comparison. Not a rattle or squeak as we go down the road!

Anyway, I am going go now. I am starting to ramble. I am sure you will see more of me

hi my name is nick.

my fj love affair started back in 06,but i could never afford one.
last year i went to my local toyota dealer to buy a new fj,but sadly they had none and would take up to 12 weeks to order one. i live in southeast louisiana in a little town called houma,4x4's arent that popular here because we havent got many places to used em. lots of sloppy saltwater marsh down here, but i dont think you wanna put a fj in the mud here.so i went out and got a 09 civic si coupe with a 6 speed manual, drove it for 3 mths after multiple steering issues i returned the car and sold it back to honda, checked toyota....still no fj's. so i went get a honda ridgeline rts 4wd.
after many mths my local toyota dealer got a 2010 fj with offroad package decked out with everything trd had to offer for $35k.
the price was too much for me but i still test drove it! my first time in a fj!
i was like a little kid in a candy store! i had to have the fj.
with trade in my note came up to be $780 per mth....so i passed on the deal.
so i searched for a few days online and around town for a used 4x4 fj.the only 4x4 fj i found was 45 miles away and they wanted $24k for a 07 with 60k miles,it was just stock base 4x4,which was fine, just had a high price tag.
so i gave up on the search.2 days later i was driving home and caught a glimpse of a white roof with a rack,it was behind like 15 other cars at about 80 yards away from me, i knew what that silouette of the roof was! so i done a u-turn and pulled in the lot.the fj had no price,no buyers order....nothing.i climbed under it to see the front cv shafts....i was very excited! it was a honda dealer, the same dealer i bought the civic si and ridgeline from. so i called up my favorite salesman(shelila at barker honda) and asked about the fj and a 08 jeep 2dr jk soft top.
she told me they had recieved both of them a few hours ago and didnt know anything about them.i stated that one of them was comming home with me,preferbly the fj,depending on the price.so she called her manager and got the price's and called me back. she said the fj was 07 with 32k miles for $22k and the jeep was 08 with 10k miles mint with soft and hard top for $21k.
that was good news for me bacause the payoff on my ridgeline was $21k.
so i told her id be in the next morning to test drive both of them.
and so i did.....of corse the fj was first.after seeing it in daylight i noticed
the front glass had 15 big dime size chips, and 3 cracks about a foot long.
a few tiny chips on the hood and one very small quarter sized dent.
overall this fj looked very clean.opened her up and turned the key....the sound was something beautiful to me!i let her run for a few min's giving her a once over . then went out and drive. she drove just like the 2010 i had driven last week.lost of power very hard acceleration.i then went in a flat field and put her in 4h,then 4l....all worked as expected.then went back to the lot after 1 hour and parked to see about the jk i noticed the fj ha 52k miles
.everyone praises the newer jk jeeps,so i had to see what i was missing.
it was very clean looked like it rolled off the showroom floor.it was forest green with dana 44 rear and dana 30 front axel, stock height.fired it up and went drive it.now this jeep for some odd reason had power windows and locks.....why....in a jeep wrangler x...i dont know!
it rode very rough on concrete and had no power in 2h.
so i went to the same field, put in 4h and drove about 100 yrds then stoped and put it in 4l,lots of power in low,i was impressed with the power in low only.but ride was very rough.everytime we hit a small bump ,my arm would hit the lock switch on the door,it was then i desided this jeep buisness wasnt for me at all! so i stopped and went to put in 2h and she wouldnt go,i had the tranny in neutral the stick just wouldnt budge! so after 5 min of trying different things i was still in 4low and was 15 miles from the lot.so i called the local jeep dealer he told me i was doing everything right and he offered a tow but honda had to pay it. so i hung up and pushed the stick as hard as i could from a sitting position it went into 2h after about (60-80 lbs of force)so back to the fj and run the numbers!
they wanted $22 for the fj as is,i talked them into replacing the glass and 1 burnt headlight, repair the broken glove box and fix the speakers, the only ones that worked was the 2 headliner high's.if they done all that id give em the ridgeline back. they didnt hesitate to say yes. when i bought the ridgeline the sales manager made a $8k mistake in the price and sold it to me for $8k cheaper than retail value.so they could get the truck back and gain so of their losses.so i got the fj for an even swap for the ridgeline. i looked over my paperwork an hour ago and i got the fj with everything repaired at hondas expense for $19k drive off the lot!(19k was the value of my ridgeline on lowest trade-in value)cost me nothing but my time to drive home my fj,the sad part tonight i leave for 25 days of work offshore without my new toy!
but on a good note,i have the ride i wanted for under $500 a mth. with a 3 years warranty.
sorry for the long story,im just very excited about the great deal i got on my 07 fj 4x4.....here she is!

Where do I start?! There is so much I would like to do to this vehicle and even more I would like to do *with* it. I picked it up fresh off the boat still wrapped in plastic and untouched. It took me no time at all to do some easy mods to start making it feel like my own

I am no truck driver... not much of a car driver for that matter either. I ride a 1000CC Suzuki as my daily driver, but I cant wait to hit those trails!

Hi all. I just put a deposit down for a new 2010 Army Green FJ. The only thing I was unable to order was the brush guard. The dealership said since the brush guards from the previous years do not fit the 2010 they did not have any to install. Any suggestions on a brush guard with a light bar that does not require a new bumper or the need to add a lift kit?

Thanks

Hi folks,
I just picked up a fully loaded except for satellite radio, 2008 2WD Sandstorm FJ with 15.5k miles on Saturday, 11/14/09. I have been checking out the forum in the weeks prior to my purchase firming up my decision to go with the Toyota FJ Cruiser and it was very helpful. This is my first non American vehicle, not counting my Yamaha Midnightstar 1600 motorcycle, so I hope it will be a great one. So thanks to you all, seems like a lot of good folks here. I’m in the midlands of SC and the vehicle will mainly be used for golf outings with a little fishing thrown in on occasion. I already have plans to add a shelf and container setup that I saw here on the site, along with upgrading the interior lights, so a lot of good info here. C ya around.

Hey all,

I"m a proud owner of an 07 FJ. I picked it up a couple months ago used with 29k. It's a 6 speed manual with a few options already installed such as rock rails and skid plate. Since I've had it I installed the A-trac switch, TRD CAI, and threw some 265/70/17 Revo 2's on it.

I've been trolling this forum for a few months and must say that it has been very helpful.

Well I thought I'd finally post after all this time. Look forward to sharing knowlege and stories with you all!

So after spending a couple weeks researching and perusing these forums today i went into pick up an Iceberg White FJ, when along came the delivery truck with the Trail Teams edition.

so yeah... I bought it :). Haven't done anything but drive home and put in a couple CD's to test the audio system.

The question is "now what" . work has me traveling around so much i figure i need to find some trails. Anyone know of any sites where national park trails are listed?

That being said I'm about due for a road trip from central FL(Tampa) to (Anywhere) I'm thinking Pittsburgh for thanksgiving. Yeah i could fly but why when i have a brand new rig to break in. Thus, I would love to catch a couple trails along the way.

I am planning to taking the auto train so i guess something north of Virginia would be best or right around here in central FL

Helllo to all!!! I am new to this forum and looking forward to meeting lots of great people and getting lots of information.

I am a proud owner of a 2008 FJ (even though my Ex-husband and I had one before, he got it in the divorce), so I had to go out and get my own:)

Can't wait to hear lots of great stories and get some ideas on what I want to do to my FJ to make it real trail ready.....
