Just a few questions:

I'm looking to buy an iceberg white 2010 FJ with the convenience package, upgrade package 2 and 4x4.

-Is the extended warranty worth it? (I got it on my last vehicle and really didn't use it)

-Does a 3" lift void the factory 36k warranty?

-If I don't lift it how big can I go with the tires, without it looking ridiculous?

-What price are you guys getting out the door?

Thanks, I appreciate any input!

i was out looking at a 2007 fj today.
its tonka toy yellow with roof rack, rock sliders....its a nice 4x4 with 53k miles.fj has a severly cracked front glas, burnt headlight, broken glovebox latch and the 4wd shift boot is pushed down into the pocket. i fell in love with it,and cant beat the deal i was offered.i currently have a 07 honda ridgeline rts 4wd with 23k miles in execellent condition, they want to do a even swap.i told them to put in a new glass and repair everything damaged and i would be happy to swap.the ridgeline as we all know isnt a real 4wd.
my question is this??????
how do you open up the rear glass, seriously i looked everywhere and cant find a button or latch release anywhere. 5 car salesman couldnt find it,the glove box dont open so i cant look in the manual.
its at a honda dealer and they know nothing about it,i wanted to drive it to toyota dealer and have them look at it,but honda said their vehicle or personal wasnt allowed on toyota's lot and toyota vehicles and personal werent allowed at honda. so i called toyota and they had no idea how to open it up either.
i know it opens up somehow.
someone please help me out!
thanx

Hello guys, My jeep just ate another motor... and I have been wanting an FJ for years (when they came out) unforunetley my jeep picked a bad time to die...so I'm looking at the used ones :(

First off, I see the 2010s have a little more horse power and better fuel economy. What has been changed on the motor to acheive that, is it easy to duplicate on a previous model year?

I am looking at two 2007 models, one is an auto with rear diff lock, atrac, etc. It also has a ARB front replacement bumper with a warn winch, and what looks like some procomp wheels and tires, with 42k miles. It is listed for 24,900.

The other one (from the same dealer) is a manual, which is my prefrence because of the full time 4x4, and all the extra off road goodie they come equiped with. But, it is completely stock with 45k miles and is listed for 23,400.

Besides full time 4x4, what are some of the other pros and cons for auto vs manual?

Also, those prices listed seem to be about average for used FJs with that mileage...which seems high to me, thoughts?

New diff covers?

Since I'm regearing and getting an ARB locker I noticed this product. I dont see too much info out there on these. Some varying opinions on manufacturer makes and one web site where they shot them with some .454's.

Will it offer better protection to damage than stock?

Can one of these be used instead of a rear diff cover (ex: bud built)

Does the extra heat dissipation make a difference in the life/work of the gears?

should both be utilized or just one?

thanks!!

Purchasing 2010 TT next week. Searching for info, please chime in!

Hello all! I am new to the forum, and the world of the FJ. I decided to purchase a 2010 TT next week, and was hoping to get input from all of you experienced FJ owners on all aspects of my decision. I saw it in the showroom of a local dealer a few days ago and took it for a test drive. After that I have been doing a lot of reading on forums and really think that this will be a great vehicle for me.

A little info about me: I don't do much 4wheeling for fun, but I do a lot of hunting requiring a bit of offroading at times, and plan to work my way into some camping expeditions again in the off season. I have always owned a 4x4, but never a Toyota and am very excited to drive it off the lot!

I guess I am just fishing around for ideas that might help me get a better deal on my purchase, equipment that I should look for from the dealer vs. equipment I would be better off getting later. Also wanted to get some opinions on the towing capabilities of the FJ. I am not anticipating any problems towing a trailer with a couple ATV's on it, but am fairly curious how you all think it would handle a decent sized bass boat.

Was also looking for an answer to this riddle.... At the dealership I noticed the FJ TT I looked at did not have any floor mats in it, and figured that they had just not put them in yet as it is part of the package. When I inquired into them, I was told that due to an accident that the mats had caused when someone got one caught on their gas pedal, Toyota had recalled them nationwide. This story sounds kinda fishy, well frankly down right rediculous, but in todays world who knows......... ???

Thanks to all who respond. Glad to be a part of the forum. Can't wait to join everyone with my new toy :) !

Hi I'm looking to trade in my old tacoma for an FJ Cruiser or a new 4 runner?

I really like the FJ and will go test drive it this weekend. The only concern i have is i have two small kids? Anyone else have kids in carseats? Are they easy to get the kids in and out?

I do a lot of backcountry fishing and hopefully can get deeper into the bush with this than my tacoma.

Any advice?

I have a All Pro offroad front winch bumper (by the way it's excellent) and after 2 years and 0 offroad trips is peeling like crazy. I read about this issue and called All Pro. They are telling me i need to send in some pics (which i did) and my receipt, their powder coating vendor will credit me 200 bucks.

The problem is i can't find my receipt anywhere nor do i remember where I purchased this since I got the bumper 2 years ago from a vendor on this forum.

what are my choices now? are there any vendors on the forums that carry the All pro bumper?

thanks

and another link (The Truth About Air Lockers (http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/howto/21459/index.html))

that points out :

"ARB offers a reseal kit that allows you to swap in new O-rings and seals to fix leaks."

If the company sells a leak fix kit, can't we safely presume that this is a common problem and i should get ready for a potential headache??

3" Suspension Lift in the Front Only?

I see many threads debating the differences between 2" or 3" leveling spacers, and then someone brings up 3" suspension kits, and then someone brings up 6" and the debates continue.

What I am so iffy about, being new to 4WDing and modding, is... are all these suspension threads for the front two tires only? If the FJ tilts forward from the factory, and people suggest getting 3" spacers to level it out... what happens when someone says, "no get a 3" suspension lift kit instead"? Are they getting 3" for all 4 tires at that point? If so, wouldn't that keep the FJ tilted forward?

Are some people getting 4" inches for the front and then 1" spacers in the back? Are people even modifying their back suspension? Sorry for being such a newbie at this stuff but I am quite confused and I want to do it right.

(for the record I plan on buying some BFG KM2 285/70/r17's soon. and then when I have more money I want to get a 3" lift).

Thanks in advance for any help!

Bumper replacement and suspension?

Hey guys, so I was looking at those sweet demello bumpers, but I was concerned about whether they would drag the front suspension down. If so, would I have to buy stiffer shocks? I really don't want to replace my shocks, but I guess I might have to if it's absolutely necessary in order to put a steel bumper on.

Lemme know please, as I haven't been able to find another thread on this!

Thanks guys.

Has anyone else noticed that the 2010 FJ manual says to use 0W20 oil? Is this new to this engine?
