Unofficial Photo Contest #1

A few of us have decided it would be fun to start up a photo contest to hold everyone over until the next official one or just for some additional fun. Although there probably will not be a big prize for this, we're sure plenty of people will enjoy the opportunity to show off their FJs. The contest will be similar to the official ones as far as deadline, submissions, and voting go, but different in that we'll be voting on a set of photos with multiple themes to choose from. This should give us a lot of creative freedom and a bit more of a challenge. Whether you're a veteran wheeler with the sickest of mods, a new owner of a bare bones FJ that has yet to roll off the pavement, or anything in between, you are encouraged to take part.

*Here's how it will work:*

Choose 4 out of the 5 themes listed below. An extra one was included to give more options or in case one can not be achieved. Feel free to do all 5 but only 4 should be submitted.

*THEMES*

*1. FJs in Motion*
-show movement of either your FJ or something in/near/around it

*2. FJs and Light*
-night shots, reflection of, or shadow caused by your FJ

*3. Make A Statement*
-a photo that would be seen in a print publication (newspaper, magazine, poster, brochure, billboard, artwork)
-include a caption with a news headline, motivational words, something witty or comical, etc. either on the image or along with your submission.

*4. FJ Illusion*
-trick us into thinking your FJ is in one setting when it's actually in another or have it appear to be doing one thing when it's actually doing something else. use background, object(s), or perspective to achieve this.

examples: FJ appears to be in the wilderness but is actually in a city park, towing a wide load trailer but is actually parked in front of it, at the desert but really in a golf course sand trap (we will not be held responsible for your arrest ;)).

-include, with your submission, a short description of where your FJ actually was.

*5. Role Reversal*
-show your dirty, rashed-up rig in a classy setting or your clean and pristine machine (please excuse the corniness) in a run-down environment or out in the wild. this is a good opportunity to finally get your baby dirty and show what she was made for or to have fun posing without catching hell for it :)

*SUBMISSIONS*

Submit only one file containing all four photos. Align them as best as you can.

Please make the width of the entire image no greater than 800 pixels.

If you have no way of combining or re-sizing them, email us for help.

Minimal photo editing only please (cropping, color correction, touch-ups, black & white).

*Email photos to:* ToyotaFJCruisers@gmail.com
Either attachments or links (URLs) to images are acceptable.
Do not post your submissions in this thread please.

*DEADLINE*: Saturday December 19 @ 11:59pm EST
This should give everyone enough time to get their photos in before the holidays. Submissions will be posted and the poll will open soon after. There will be plenty of time to vote. Check back for updates.

So go ahead and get started!

*This contest was a joint effort by members of this site (not moderators) who will also be taking part in the contest.
The winner will be determined by a poll open to all members of this forum.

*Thanks to those who made some awesome suggestions.

Here are links to a couple pictures from a snow run I did with some local cruisers yesterday near Mt Rainier (Wagon Trail). There were 2 other FJ's out there. Had an awesome time and made it out with no body damage. Got some good decent flex and tilt. Very narrow muddy trail with a LOT of trees, so there were a lot of butt cheek puckering moments. Had a great time and hope to make it out again soon.

i usually try and go to sema every year, but this time i got to spend a couple days there. not as crowded as years past, but still a good show. the retro american muscle cars were pretty much the norm this year while the gtr and gensis also made strong showings. there was just camaros and challengers everywhere. mustangs didn't seem as visible, but maybe that's because of it's been out for a few years. dry carbon was also on everything and already out for the new cars. i was expecting to see more euro cars and nissan cubes, but they weren't there like the past.

here's the pics

Here are some pics i took at this years SEMA convention. Not much in the way of FJ's but still some cool rigs. Seemed like nothing but GTR's and Cameros

Check out this first car. Its a 2.0 liter 800hp drift car. I thinks its a version of the ford focus, any ways it has 55 pounds of boost and goes 0-60mph in under 2 secs!!!

Rough Country 3" Lift Installed (TT Content)

Friend and I installed the Rough Country 3 inch lift on my rig last night. Install went alright. Would have been easier with air tools or ratcheting crescent wrenches. The hammer gnome also shroomed the end of my passenger side tie rod trying to loosen it, so we had to break out the grinder to get it down to the good threads.:boohoo: Other than that, install was very straight forward. Pulled off the front sway to make the front struts more accessible. Reinstalling it was the toughest part of the install. Those bolts seem unnecessarily long, and there wasnt enough space to get a socket in there. All in all, not a bad install other than a couple speed bumps. Good news is that those speed bumps will be much easier to handle now that I am lifted 3" :rocker:

Deffinitely feels more like a truck than from the factory. Have only driven about 20 miles on the setup, but it rides very smoothly. I am planning on doing a snow run this coming weekend, so I will let you know how it handles the muck.

I am planning on getting some more rubber, but the stock BFs look suprisingly alright for the time being.

On to the pics. (Sorry for the low quality. All but 1 are cell phone pictures)

This past weekend my friend(the xterra) and I took a trip out to Big Fork on Signal Mtn. in Chattanooga, TN. It was our first real offroad experience and we had a blast! We are definitely going again real soon! Both rigs performed great, no problems really, neither of us got stuck, and overall just had a ton of fun!

Anways, here are the pics...
