Does the FJ ECM have its own idea of when something (such as oil) needs to be changed? We have a little over 26,400 on our bought used 2007. Started with mnt rqd light flashing 4 or 5 times on start up, now on constant. Changed oil and air filter at about 24,000. Think I remember reading in the owners manual that spark plugs are due at 25,000. Rig is running fine, no change in engine tone, start up or mileage. Any thoughts? Lights flashing started a little before hitting 26,000.

So here's a question. The 2010 FJ manual calls for 0W20 (which is only available in a synthetic.) On the other hand, the conventional wisdom is to use regular 'dino?' oil for the first several thousand miles or so... So what oil to use for the first couple of oil changes? My initial thought it to go with a non-synthetic 5w-20 for the first change or two. Besides, it seems like most reviews of 0w-20 are mixed, anyway....

Just changed my oil yesterday for the second time since I owned my FJ.
My question is: how many quarts of oil do you get in to reach the full mark when you do your oil changes?

The manual says if you change your filter it should take 5.5 quarts of oil. Both times I changed it mine was right at the full mark with exactly 5 quarts. I'm using the toyota oil filters. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks.

I just bought an All-Pro high clearance tail pipe and did some searching on how to deal with the gasket and hardware. I've read that people have ordered the gasket from Toyota, bought a pre-cut one from a car part store, or make one from gasket paper.

What's the best thing to do? And what bolts and replacements will I need? TIA.

electric engine fan ?? any idea

Hi there

I want to replace my mechanical fan to electric

because:

1- reduce the load on the engine.(and water pump)

2- get more staple temp control ( my water temp goes up to 194F when it should be around 176F) by SG2.

3- if I keep the engine cooler and less load I can get nice performance as will?

4- less noise too.

the out side temp around me is 98F to 113F

please feel free to add ideas correct me and share the idea

Okay I have a HUGE question?

I have a flowmaster super 44 offroad and it is amazing. I would like to get a performance Y pipe but they are a bit pricey for what they really are.

So I am thinking about getting dual Hush PRO Series w/Turndown. I would get rid of the stock y pipe, put both of these in its place having it almost like a SLR exhaust. I would do an H pipe weld in between them. I think it might work and would sound super nice IMO. It could save weight too. I wouldn't have to bend all the tubing around the Live axle for a dual exhaust. I would keep the first set of cats on and maybe get JBA headers.

Image: http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/aqnfx/exhuast.jpg
(sorry can't draw well in paint.)
Something like this. It wouldn't go all the way back. It would stop just under the doors.

What do you guys think?

Just got a scangauge a few days ago and had a quick question. I've read that you need to fill up all the way when you reset it to get accurate results.

Can't I just fill up all the way, then reset it. Then if next time I fill up only 5 gallons (not completely full) just reset it and tell the the SG that I only put 5 gallons.

-thanks

Good Day,Is there any of you running the Hushpower muffler. It looks like a pretty cool design and it's not chambered like the standard Flowmasters. I found an ad for these on the Flowmaster site. I like the looks of the one with the built in dump. 3" in and 3 1/2" out:

PRO Series w/Turndown - Hushpower (http://www.hushpower.com/product/15/PRO+Series+w%2FTurndown.html)

Thanks for any input...

We have a 2007 FJ that I would like to do some minor performance modifications on. 4WD 5A locking diff. and A-Trac. We have a mile long dirt road to get to our house, and often take the back road dirt road tour just to get home. Can be up to 15 miles in the dust.
It is often very dry in the Texas Panhandle and I am not sold on the K&N oiled filter thing. Do not like the very open filter set up on top of the oiled filter issue.
What would you guys do in a dust bowl? We are not going Hard core 4 wheeling, just want a little more Hp. Will be adding a cat back and maybe headers. :bandit:

Not sure how the weld broke since the tailpipe was up behind the rear bumper but the muffler is twisted 90 and the clamps never held for beans. I see people blaming others for a poor install on other items and I just wanna say that I've installed a few catbacks by other companies on other vehicles and never had a single problem. I've kept quiet about this for a while thinking I would weld it up, even tack weld it, I did not weld it because who has a tig rig to do stainless under a truck? not many, and I wasn't about to mig weld it with mild steel wire ... To be fair, I have not contacted AFE about this.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Not fun losing clearance on the trail, not too mention, I'm driving cross country next week...
