Re: LA Autoshow Pics

I take my last comment back. The monitors in the dash seem to be a reverse camera and a frontal camera. Pointless possibly? In some cases... I do like the head unit. Very clean install. The rest of it is just over board.

Re: LA Autoshow Pics

Just so everybody understands the monitors above the gauges - they are for the two forward facing cameras (one each side). Because of the camera angle you can see the ground much closer to the front tires than you can trying to peer over the hood. So if you don't happen to have a spotter while driving off road, you can still see what each tire is about to encounter. I found this particularly usefull on the narrow, rocky trails in and around Joshua Tree ().

There is also a rear facing camera (which broadcasts through the head unit when in reverse or upon activating a software switch) and two bright reverse lights to aid in backing down/up a trail as well.

Clearly some of the install was just for visual impact and fun, but we put some thought into the rest of the system to maintain, if not improve, the utility of the FJ. All of the electronics are up off of the floor so we can still toss dirty wet things into the back without consequense. And a big plus is that it sounds great.

More photos of the entire truck can be found in the gallery:

Keep those comments coming!

No, it's one of the two cameras.

Re: LA Autoshow Pics

Great work, but just too FANCY-SCHMANCY for me. I am pretty much basic and boring when it comes to interior mods. The old "less is more" school of thought.
