Lightbulb SNORKEL SCREEN FILTER: Modification w/ pics

To read the original full thread and post questions/comments on this topic, please go to http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...recaution.html

After driving around with my snorkel on for over a week, I decided to do some damage prevention.

I had a couple worries:

1. Chunks of mud, debris, rocks, or anything solid getting flung up and entering through my snorkel, and doing engine damage.

2. Punk a$$ kids thinking it might be a good idea to shove something down the head of the snorkel. (i.e. rocks, pencils, pickles, etc.) You never know.

My solution:

1. Remove snorkel head.

2. With a sharpie, I used the bottom of the head of the snorkel as a template to trace a circle onto a small piece of aluminum door screen and cut it out.

3. I set the cut-out portion of screen on to the top of the snorkel (before replacing the head) and formed it over the tube just using my hands.

4. Replace the head, tighten the hose clamp, and Voila!

Now, every once in a while or after trail runs and mud fun, I'll pop the head off and take a gander.

Sorry for the night pictures. It's all I've got.
