FENDER FLARE REMOVAL: Modification w/ pics

To read the original full thread and post questions/comments on this topic, please go to Fender Clearence for Larger Tires MOD

I decided to remove the Tupperware Fenders from the Raptor. I want to insure plenty of wheel articulation when in upward travel off-road. I first removed the front fenders, then masked off any areas that I didn’t want to get over spray on.

I then used 3M Rubber Undercoating in a can. I sprayed all the areas then removed the masking tape. It left a clean job when all the tape was removed.

The rear was a little more tricky, this is due to there is a large piece of plastic that covers part of the side of the rear outside of the fender. It looks like crap IMHO. I decided to due a little cutting and reshaping of the rear fender once it was removed from the vehicle. I used a hand saw then for the removal of the bulk of the plastic, then I used a razor knife to clean up the finishing touches to the plastic.

It still covers the ugly gap of bare metal where the plastic would be, but retains enough clearance for the rear tire.

Here is another view from the front at an angle.

Well, I thought about anyone else that may want to remove their fenders and want to keep some of the plastic part of the rear to cover up the ugly spot. I hope this helps.
