IPF 968 OFF-ROAD LIGHTS: Installation w/pics

To read the original full thread and post questions/comments on this topic, please go to IPF 968 Full install guide

Hi everyone,

thought I'd document my ipf's that I recently got at costco as I installed them. The kit is very thorough and seems like it is almost made for the FJ. My install is specifically on an arb, but should be applicable to almost any installation.

How the lights look

Close up of the reflector

Placed some clear bra material b/w the bumper and the light mounts

Mount the lights as desired

Lay out the wiring harness, one side is longer and that should be for the passenger side light.

Snake the 2 front light harnesses thru this hole

stick it thru the rubber grommet if you have an arb

Connect the light to the harness

use zip ties to tie down the harness

more zip ties

attach the 2 negative cables to this bolt

Drill a small pilot hole, and then mount the relay VERTICALLY. There is a screw provided in the kit that works great.

** not pictured**
attach positive wire to positive battery post, I had to split the ring and widen it to fit it over the original battery bolt

slit a hole in the fire wall and Snake the remaining wire with the 2 prongs through it

The wire should poke out through here

connect the wire with the 2 prongs you just stuck thru the fire wall and connect it to the interior harness.

Strip a little bit over a cm's worth of wire and pull the top left fuse in the fuse box, and hold wire in position so that it only touches the bottom tooth of the fuse, and replace the fuse. Do not let the wire touch both teeth of the fuse in which it would complete the circuit and would cancel out the whole purpose of the fuse.

A better and proper option is to use one of these, which I will get later on.

Mini Blade Add a Circuit Fuse Holder : Sporty's Tool Shop

connect the button to the harness

place as desired, can replace with stock switch or tacoma switch

go back and tidy up all the wires and zip tie them down under the hood and in the foot well so nothing gets caught while you drive

All cleaned up and zipped tied out of the way, Looks like stock.

Note, The following pics have all been taken at the same shutter speed.

go out and light up the night!
