Good news! They took the breathing tube out yesterday morning. He is still a little dazed, but he responds to you and tries to talk. His throat is still a little irritated so the doctors say it may be a few days before he talk good. He still gets a little anxious with visitors and his blood pressure goes up, so they have asked us to limit the amount of time we spend with him so we don't get him too anxious. If everything keeps going good they move him from the ICU to a regular room in a few days. Still doing dialysis every other day to help his kidneys. Just going to time to heal, but he is getting there!
Shannon's way too ornery to let a little kidney issue slow is butt down. I hope he makes a complete recovery so I can finally kick his arse in a few games of pool. Right now he's up by 4....
I took a drive to Galveston UTMB this morning to see if I could talk with Shannon's family. Unfortunately there was no family there when I arrived, but I did recieve permission to visit Shannon for a minute. His eyes were open and he was looking around, but I don't feel that he was aware I was there. His vitals did not change when I was in the room, so that made me feel better, that I wasn't upsetting him. No ventilator, he's breathing on his own. The ICU nurse said he comes and goes. So hopefully he is taking small steps toward a full recovery. Wish I had more information to pass on.
Hopefully Shayna will give us an official update later on.
Get well soon, everyone is praying for you to get better!
Keep us updated!

Shannon is doing better this morning. He is still a little dazed, but he is coming out of it. Nurses say that they may move him out of the ICU to a regular room later on today. Still doing dialysis. But he is improving! His blood pressure is ok. It is not going up as much as it was when we visit. He is able to talk a little better this morning. Will let you know when they move him to a room.
Shannon is doing soooo much better! Still has a little ways to go before he is back to the Shannon we all know, but he is getting there! He is able to talk now, and is already giving the nurses a hard time!! He is still a little out of it, but he is coming around! Blood pressure was good today, and didn't go up during visits. Still having to do dialysis to help his kidneys. Doctors said it may take a few weeks before they start working normal, and we have faith in God that they will. As of tonight, he is still in the ICU, they may move him to a regular room tomorrow if there are any available. He was extremely sick when he was lifelighted to the hospital, and now it is such a blessing to see him awake and sitting up! Our prayers are being answered! I told him that all of you are concerned and eager to visit; and that I was posting updates for you all. Will let you know if they move him to a room tomorrow. Thank you all so much for everything!
