May Eglin run. Any interest?

I posted a poll over in the "Trail Runs/Get Togethers" section :
How about an Eglin Run during May? What weekend?
Let me know what you folks might like. I'm trying to nail down a date first. Then I'll get into the nitty gritty.
BTW, I plan on camping out, personally.

Re: May Eglin run. Any interest?

Anyone in our Tampa area here interested in hitting up this Eglin run at the end of May. I am heading up there probably on Friday after work at about 5ish or so.

Fj6high, come on I know you were thinking about it.

I sure would like to see some different turf! The wife is not going along with the program (Yet) I would leave friday after work stay over night and ride the trails Saturday till about 3p.m. and head back home! Billy your familiar with the area? Do I need One pass per vehicle or one for each occupant that rides with me? If I'm able to go, is there any way to get a pass or permit while I'm up there Sat morning? I don't want to spend up front not being sure I can go. I hope more of the Tampa Bay Cruisers ring In for this ride.

For the ease of finding this on their webpage I just cut and pasted this. It's a little about the reservation and gives the hours. Also I don't think it makes clear but, each person is required to have a pass. If your wife goes, before you guys head out take her to Destin and treat her out. There are some very romantic and b-e-a-utiful beaches in Destin.

The Eglin Natural Resources Branch, locally known as Jackson Guard, is tasked with management of the vast natural resources found throughout the 464,000 acre Eglin reservation. Approximately 280,000 acres of the reservation are open to public use and enjoyment and specific information regarding hunting, fishing and outdoor recreational opportunities can be obtained by contacting or visiting the Natural Resources Branch office at 107 Hwy. 85 North, Niceville, Fla. A permit is required to recreate on the reservation; and in addition to providing maps, regulations and permit fee information, the Natural Resources office has educational displays that promote Eglin’s rare and sensitive natural communities and management efforts.

The Natural Resources Branch hours of operation are: Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Sundays and Federal holidays closed.
Additional information may be obtained by calling Jackson Guard at 882-4164. Jackson Guard is closed on Sundays and Federal holidays.

Thankyou Billie, I hope to convince the wife to go along for this run. The romantic get away to Destin might just change her mind! I will call Jackson Guard in the A.M for more details.

Re: May Eglin run. Any interest?

Well this Eglin run is coming up at the end of the month. I know it's a haul, but just wanted to give this a bump and see if anyone from our area here around Tampa is thinking about making it up there. I am going to be leaving in the late afternoon on Friday to head out.
