First received a call about 3:30 PM from a fellow FJCFL Member, Jason.
I go the call while I was in Publix so I could not take the call! But when I was able to make the call, Chris, Julian and Justin where already on the way. Jason was stuck in Richloam, all alone, with water bubbling from his exhaust pipe! We were all at the least an hour away from Richloam.
So I met up with Chris and just before getting to Richloam. And when we were close to Richloam, I called Justin to see where he was at.
He say's he was in Richloam already. I ask for directions and Justin said "right, right, right." I say, are you sure? I talked to Jason and he said "right, right, LEFT!" Justin said "Yeah that is right, but he, himself Justin, is now also stuck (high-centered) on the, right, right, right trail." lol
So we went to get Justin unstuck, first!
Justin said, he was trying to get in front of Jason to get Jason out. And that was the trail, which was not really a trail at all, he was on.
So we went and then found Jason!
ANd it did look like it would be best if we could get over to the other side to pull him the rest of the way out. So we tried several ways around to the other side but kept running into deep water holes on all the trails, trying to go around the other side. So we gave up and decided to just go back the way we came and Chris winch him out backwards.
The mosquitos were pretty bad!
And he was out a little after 6 pm!
ANd both Chris and Julian had never even met Jason, and still dropped what they were doing and drove out to Richloam to help him out! Good guys!
BTW: Jason was pretty lucky, he got stuck pretty close to the west entrance, which allowed him to have good cell phone service. In many other areas of Richloam cell phone service is almost non-existent.
So let me reiterate some facts about Richloam WMA; be careful driving the trails out there alone. During the wet season (now) even the "main" numbered trails will have water and mud holes to drive through. Some will be easy but SOME might very well be too deep or muddy, to get through. And it will be hard to tell which ones will have the big nasty holes.
After you drive through a few scary ones, people think think they all are the same. Trust me they are NOT!
Even I got stuck and waterlogged there once and destroyed one of my small carry around cameras that happened to fall on the floor and got soaked! And I was even with Archie while he still had his TRD FJC.

Something about the west side of Florida that raised great people who wheel and help each other out!
I agree! You have a great bunch of guys over there. On the few occasions I have been out that way the hospitality and comradery has been first rate!
Nice job on the rescue, and great pics as usual Paul!
But I hope someone learned a lesson... never wheel alone!!! (Even with a winch!)
Regards,
Al
