ok I figured this out. So these are "social bookmark" sites.....
if you wanted to view all of my interests, you'd go to my del.icio.us page and see all of my bookmarks that I've added via the site.
Kind of an interesting concept. Not sure if it'll catch on with me or I'll just forget about it...

Those funky little icons have something to do with linking your specific post on a specific thread to another thread on another website. That is about as much as I can glean, other that that you are on your own.
