Why are some pictures viewable while others are not?

In a few threads, the images can be seen, but other threads just have a blue square with a '?' in it. Is it my web browser?

Could be they are hosted on a "free" site that has cut off the source file.

Haven't seen those yet, have any links / examples?

There are some threads that when I read them they have the little red X whre the pics is supposed to be. I'll come back to the thread in a a little while and the pics are there.

Re: Why are some pictures viewable while others are not?

Internet Explorer displays an X when it cannot display the images. It usually cant get the images when a free web host is being used to host the images remotely or for other external reasons.

You can adjust this setting by going to Tools Menu / Internet Options / Advanced /

Scroll down about halfway through the advanced options.

JLam, it isn't a particular thread. I think I figured it out. The difference is between work and home. Everything works fine at home, but at work our firewall must block them if they are linked outside of the forum.

No worries! But thanks for trying to help.

What is this "Internet Explorer" you speak of?

Firefox used to stink, but now it really is the best. Runs faster and cleaner than IE + the Google added taskbar does not contain spyware like IE.

Heh, I use Firefox at home - but we use a hardened IE at work, since we are a Microsoft partner (waving their big flag and all)
