How about a "build up" forum section?

** EDIT by 4RnrJ** Section is available, please be sure to read the sticky at the top before posting!!

I was just checking out another forum for a different vehicle and they had a great forum section where each thread was a description of a member's vehicle build up, with comments from other users and updates. We have so many different people on here with different cool mods, and sometimes it's tricky to follow and find out who has what. It's really useful to see who has tried what and with what result. Putting all this stuff in one place is sooo much more useful.

So how about it, admins? A new section for build ups? (not sure if "section" is the right term - it's the level above a thread. Something on the same level as "4x4 tech" and "wheels and tires" and "suspension"). Maybe titled "Member build-ups"? Then whoever wants to can add their own thread, like "mir207's build up" etc.

I'll mention this thread to the admins, I think it is a good idea.

x2. Great idea!! It would be great to see all of member's mods consolidated altogether in a single thread, in addition to spread throughout the forum in the different specialized categories.

Several people already have many cool, detailed write ups, but yup, they're spread out all over the shop. For people like Corey, Sol, Jon, etc. who have nice bits written up, you could imagine a thread that provides a kind of clickable "table of contents" referencing those other threads elsewhere on the forum (or on other forums).

For people like me who maybe don't have stuff that they personally pioneered, it'd be a nice way of being able to show it off anyway without having to justify it

Bottom line is that being obsessed with this vehicle, I'm endlessly entertained by all the different variations and types of mod'ing.

That's an excellent idea 'cuz there's nowhere else to put buildups except by category.

Re: How about a "build up" forum section?

I think I'm "seventh-ing" it. It would be nice to have a place (heavily moderated) where people post their builds/rigs. If somebody wants details or has questions they can PM. If you let the posts get too crazy it will be difficult to just look at what people have done.

One of the most important components is "lessons learned". Or maybe that's another forum category. As with most of us, we're happy with what we've done but maybe we screwed up along the way and there's something for all of us in those goofy decisions we regret.

Good point. Since the posts are edit'able, I wonder if etiquette should be that the first post should be kept up-to-date with the latest state of the vehicle?

Re: How about a "build up" forum section?

You know, if you guys did a build-up section I would redo all my buildups especially for that section. It would really help everybody.
