By the time i remember seeing Sesame Street, over friends houses, i already knew what they were trying to teach, so i thought if you watched SS you must be stupid! I lost respect for some of my friends at that time!
But i liked it for my kids, but they were much younger, toddler age when they started to watch it, not grade school age. They did have an older child version out for many years, the Electric Company, i think thats what they called it, i did like some of that. my .02
