Hi there. In the past week I have gotten three emails like this:
Quote:
Dear Nick,
Your account on Toyota FJ Cruiser Forum has been locked because someone has tried to log into the account with the wrong password more than 5 times. You will be able to attempt to log in again in another 15 minutes.
The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 12.3.83.19
Other IP addresses have been:
221.4.151.150
200.226.134.53
Is there anything I can do about this? I feel my password is pretty secure, and I don't post here much, but would still not like to have my account taken over.
Thanks,
-Nick

Make sure the password you use on the Forum is different from all other passwords that you use. Generally, someone would try to swipe your password from a simple site such as this in order to test it against more sensitive online accounts that you may have.
It can also be someone local... think about who has access to your account.

FJ KIA. RIP Goliath. Tread lightly but carry a big hi-lift.
Take it slow and stay on the trail. And always remember the FJ is HEAVY. JMHO as a reformed trail-blazer.
Yeah I'm guessing spammers... it probably is a script from a zombie which attacks english names like "nick". I'm guessing it tried passwords like nick, password, god, etc. The IP in question belongs to Merrill Lynch:

Again ,im not worried about me,its the rest of you, that lack the means and effort I undertake..I shall not want ,but the rest of you may..Its help I offer,mikey5
He made my life quite a lot funnier last year about this time *sigh* I miss the laughter
