Video hosting question

Does anyone know how you can save a video off of a digital camcorder that has already saved and finalized the dvd?

I can't seem to figure out how to pull the video off the DVD, it will only play the video in my computer once I place the camcorder DVD in my computer. Normally I can just pull a video off my digital cameras SD card but something must be different when you take them off the DVD itself.
