50 PM limit?

I still do not understand why forums do this? Why do you put the limit for PMs so incredibly low? The amount of space even for 1000 active users using the PM system is incredibly small in comparison. Not to mention the limit is more like 25 since it counts sent messages as well? Lets get this raised, can't possibly be a drive space excuse?

Re: 50 PM limit?

I was a little surprised after a short time on the forum to see my mailbox almost at capacity. And I don't even have any friends.

I will say this though it helps me a self proclaimed e-mail hoarder to clean up once in a while.

I guess if there was something I just could not see myself without I could always to a screen cap and save it.

I need to seriously reevaluate my hotmail account.

Re: 50 PM limit?

I save about 4000 emails a year (just on my personal account), so I know all about hoarding.

I suppose no matter what it was you'd have to start deleting pms eventually, but at least you'd get a little bit of history. The way it is now you have to empty WAY to often.

Re: 50 PM limit?

Yeah, now that we're supposed to PM each other rather than rep each other, the limit should be increased!

Re: 50 PM limit?

It does suck that there is such a low limit on pms. One way I get around that is save all the pms as a text file. To do this, check the box at the very top of your messages on the folder you want to save. Next, at the bottom of the page click "text" under "save all private messages as." This will save your pms on your computer in a text file which can then be opened with Notepad or Word. You can also do this to search your pms. Hold "ctrl" and "f" at the same time to bring up the search tool.

Or just let it completely fill up.....that's what I did. Although somehow I've got 51 messages. I think it was b/c the last one was from a mod and they must be able to override the system.
