Strong-arm tactics

No, I'm not resurrecting THAT thread, but I do want to address the issue of how moderators enforce forum rules. I would have spoken up earlier except that I was banned (to the delight of some) at the time that thread was still open.

Personally, I've neither seen nor experienced bullying or strong-arm tactics from the moderators. However, I have been subjected to their arbitrary and capricious actions.

Case in point:

A couple of weeks ago in the thread "Help a youngin," one of our members accused the OP of being a drug dealer. He/she also wrecklessly labeled the OP's parents as "incompetent" because they do not parent in the same manner as he/she. To my knowledge, this member was neither reprimanded, nor banned.

Which conduct is more deserving of being banned? accusing a member (more than once) of financing the purchase of his FJ through drug sales, or making sarcastic apologies? Which is more offensive? Libeling a member's parents or calling a few members "stupid"? You don't think that is being disrespectful of another member and his family? What's more, the member seems to have delighted in his/her attacks ("I already ripped him a new one for about a half a day on a different thread"...from the original bullying and strong-arm tactics thread.)

This is but one example of the arbitrary manner in which at least one moderator functions. There are others. But, if you're a favorite of the moderators, you can get by with a whole lot of disrespect and misconduct.

It is not a question of bullying or strong-arm tactics, it's a question of favortism and fairness.

Welcome to life, 101. Nice to have you. The board is not a public place. It's private property. When we don't like how it's run, we can leave. Like you, 5 minutes after your hit and run post.

Re: Strong-arm tactics

I got banned by a mod whom I consider an online "friend". move on -- I have. business is business.

If you have a problem with someone's posts, report them as offensive. That's how I got banned. It's your unalienable right!

I found a better one. Please take this to mean that we don't really want unhappy people here.
