Gotcha, that's good diagnostic info. That tells me that the issue isn't with the forum server's DNS listing or your DNS server. If the header is loading quickly, that suggests that the html file is being sent...the question is whether the images are coming in slowly for some reason.
(edit: the stuff that I wrote here about PHP initally doesn't appear to be relevant, so nevermind...)
Here's another diagnostic procedure. When you encounter a 'delayed' or slow page, and the browser is simply waiting for data, go to the "View" menu and select "Source" (in internet explorer and Opera, or 'Page Source' in Firefox). Let us know what the last couple lines are.
OK I set this as my new homepage, closed internet explorer, re-opened and as the page is super slow loading I went to "view, source" as it was loading.
Interesting that all the page info is there but takes soooooo looooong to load up, meaning, while it basically all looks like gibberish to me I can at least notice enough to know that whats at/towards the end of the, "view, source" is relative for what later appears on screen in the user interface of internet explorer. Once the page was fully loaded the "view source" was unchanged from when I first looked at it while the page was loading. I guess that would mean my program is getting all the info pronto and the problem is not receiving but displaying??
I wonder why it can happen so quickly on the "view, source" but so delayed to appear normal? anyway here are the last line or two. Let me know if you want the whole thing PM'd to you. Oh, and thanks again for your help!
Re: Help please! Something is askew with my page loading times!
Are you using Comcast as your ISP? I had veeerrrryyyy long download times this weekend on this site and others, though some weren't quite as bad. I experienced it on both a hard-wired Mac and a PC with a WiFi connection into my router.
Anyway, I did some searching on dslreports.com (slowly ... ) and saw that others with Comcast cable modems were having the same problem. Restarting the modem (I had to do it twice) and then rebooting my router and finally my computers cleared/reset everything.
Some people speculated that Comcast pushed a software update late last week and a restart of the modem is necessary to get back to full speed.

Could it be some sort of, Advertising website checking the isp of each person so that it may serve the correct ads to each person loggin on to the site here?
And something on the persons computer blocking that access for the ad server, and thus slowing everything down?
It woudn't be checking with the isp really, but rather doing some checking of the cookies via your browser. But that happens very quickly indeed, and it happens on the browser side. Clearing cookies, moving to a new browser, etc would all fix it most likely. Mine happens so fast that it's essentially done while forum images are still loading.

Yes, I have comcast. I restarted the moden and rebooted the computer twice with no luck but I'll try a few more times. Funny thing is that it's just this site and its every page on this site.

I've had issues with scripts taking up my loading time. I now use mozilla with No Script add on. You can pick and choose which scripts you allow to run. Give it a shot. It's free.

Good point. Java apps kill your CPU even though the application developers swear by the experience.
Also, try ditching anything adobe related. This will reduce your internet browsing experience, but you also won't be part of the 2008 add campaign.
