Help please! Something is askew with my page loading times!

A couple of days ago the FJ cruiser Forum website started loading extremely slow on my home desktop. I thought it might have been an issue with the site but it loads quickly (normal) on my work computer. Interesting thing is that on my home desktop all other websites are quick loading with no change whatsoever from the normal speed, it's this site only.

I cleared all cookies and internet files and rebooted which did nothing to help. I've tried logged in or logged out, no change. I've not loaded any new software either. I'm using internet explorer with windows XP. I'm really not interested in changing to another browser, I just want the forum to load like it should.

I seriously can not continue to use the forum this way, it just takes to long. The website header pops right up but everything below the title bar takes what seems like minutes to load.

Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Help please! Something is askew with my page loading times!

Are you using any antivirus, firewall, anti-spam or other security software? If so, make sure it's updated/current versions. If not, get some! Check your system for viruses & adware/spyware. For the latter, try spybot and adaware (both free). There are free antivirus programs as well.

Is your copy of windows current & updated using windows update? If not, make sure it is.

You may want to try this: go to Start Menu->Programs->Accessories and open the item called "Command Prompt". Type "ping fjcruiserforums.com" and see what's listed under "time". Then try another few webstes to compare the times. How different are they?

nice handle, btw. climber?

Funny, my Jeep Buddy told me the very same thing today. He can not even look at this forum because it is so slow. He told me it is the ONLY forum that he has problems with.

So I would be interested in know what the problem is also.

BTW, It loads very quick on mine.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I use NoAdware and AGV, both are updated and ran daily, and I'm current on any MS updates as well. I did try the ping exercises and 4 sites averaged 14ms while this site averaged 85ms. Any ideas?

Yes on the climbing!

It's not just you. I get the same thing. Some days are worse then others. If you ever try to post at 12:05 ish, good luck! It locks up for about 3-5 min. before you can access it again. I think the forum does some kind of update at that time. When do you notice the troubles?

If a lot of others were having the same issue as me it would be a disaster for the site I can assure you of that. My issue started on Wednesday or Thursday and is at any and all times of the day. Again it's only this site which is what has me so frustrated.

I did load up and run spybot in addition to my normal spy type of program NoAdware, no help. I'd do a few searches on this issue but it would take me forever!

PS thanks for coming out to the Claw hammer and giving support!

VBulletin does updates at night. I used to go to a site that would die for 10-15 minutes every night at 11:00 PM MT.

I use AVG, its slows down my computer the least out of any virus/spybot programs, plus its free.
