Looks good in the forum and adds a little clarification, Thanks...hopefully this will spur a little more activity so each state can get a sub area.

Re: Forum Suggestions - Please post them in here.

Although I don’t have many posts, I have been a member of this forum since 11/05. During this time I have sought information from members on a variety of topics, both publicly and in PMs. I appreciate what each of the responders has done to assist me, but making sense of responses has sometimes been difficult.

What would help is if I knew a bit more about the member I am communicating with. I would like to suggest that we ask members to indicate years of 4-wheeling experience and primary area of experience/interest (i.e., rock crawling, Baja, mud, extreme… people who are actively involved in 4-wheeling could probably do a better job of identifying categories of interest).

How would this help? Well, members have biases and perspectives based upon their experience and interests. When I find a member whose interests parallel mine, I tend to find the advice to be more relevant to my needs. I would like to make finding that member as simple as possible.

a larger photo size limit for the pics you host! there is really no call to limit them to such a small size - it also makes for less interesting viewing of pics in most cases. i'd suggest that you up the size limit to 150k from the 97 that you have now.

allow dealers to post their FJs for sale in a special thread. why not help people find deals (or rip-offs as the case may be)? it makes no sense to keep them out - especially if one member can get an FJ that might not have otherwise. just put a sticky up that says overpriced offers are subject to flames or set rules that only msrp and below will be allowed!

You are allowed 2500k per photo in the photo gallery; 80,000 kb per user. Unless you're talking about the avatar?

Re: Forum Suggestions - Please post them in here.

when i post to a thread (not avatars) the photo size is limited to 97.7k.

i really doubt that you would be overwhelmed by dealer posts. when the pt cruiser came out there was a far greater demand and far more vehicles available and it never happened then.

finally, when someone PMs me there is no button to click on to reply to their message. is it because i'm using firefox on a mac? i just don't see it anywhere - though there is a forward button.

I'm not going to get into a pt cruiser vs. fj cruiser debate
admins rule, have to see what they say

The reply button is the quote button to the right of the forward button. Software default, I think it might have been mentioned previously in this thread that it can't be changed.

I don't mean to deter your suggestions, just explaining

Re: Forum Suggestions - Please post them in here.

no offense mfj but i have and mod forums of my own and am a veteran of vehicle forums like this one, so i already KNOW how to post a photo, resize it and everything else in your link. i assume that vbulletin or your server db has settings that allow you to set parameters up to a certain size for allowed photos. i'm merely suggesting that you need to increase that size limit by about 25% to allow for larger images within threads for the photos you host on your servers. i can post from an outside source and place bigger images in threads but it would be nice if it was also available to some degree here as long as it still continues to limit situations where images are too big.

and of course i wasn't trying to compare an FJ to a PT when it comes to cruisers. i was just suggesting that too many dealer posts were never a problem with a much more prevelant vehicle and doubt it would be here. even if your darkest fears were realized, THEN you could shut it down or limit it some way. it's just unfounded paranoia in my opinion and who knows it might even get you some more money paying sponsors/underwriting partners at some point.

We limit attachments in threads for a reason. The photo gallery is also there for a reason. I would suggest using the photo gallery for your large photos. And since you are experienced, you should have no problem linking to the photos in your gallery from inside a thread.

Judging from the poll. You can return the off-topic posts to the total count. That would be good.
