This board is slow because of ads - period.

You saw the other thread - I know... why start another... well, because that one's 6 pages deep with complaints - with the answer buried in there a couple times...

I posted that I had installed Mozilla Foxfire (again) and the site was still slow. FJDave told me to add the Adblocker Plus and it would solve the problem.

He was 100% correct. The site flies now - it "pops" up page after page. Adblocker does just that - it eliminates all of those banners, mini-videos... the "commercials" all over the board. My "version" of the board now has none of them... and it is back to being as fast as every other board.

Okay, so my machine is back to normal. My problem is solved... but not the board's.

Bottom line - gotta kill the ads guys. I know - the board needs revenue. But - if these ads result in a reduction of views (because the members are racking up lower clicks), the ad buyers are going leave... then the

Re: This board is slow because of ads - period.

I agree that things have slowed.... but I'll put up with it because this is the best fj forum on the web....... NO other forum has the information or the amount of dedicated members who are willing to spend the time to help strangers out in time of need....So the people who think this is slow try asking your question anywhere else and see how long it takes to get a response...I'll put up with a little page loading time to get the quality we get here... thanks for listening...

Running IE here, no issues with the board speed. Still running as smooth as the day I joined.

Re: This board is slow because of ads - period.

There were some server issues too though, I believe it was with the expired as-n.ext.com thing that tries to load, an ad server.

I use Firefox at home and at work, but I only have the Ad Blocker Plus on the PC at home.
It was still slow a few days back (from home) due to that thing trying to load.

Re: This board is slow because of ads - period.

I did the one year membership thinking it would speed up, but I have not really seen that. Plus there are still ads on here. It does have the best tech info here from what I have seen.

Re: This board is slow because of ads - period.

The situation is getting worse not better. I was a member of a fly fishing forum that had the same problems. Finally it got so bad I just quit going there. I hope this forum doesn't end up the same way!
