I agree with the consensus...............10 posts before starting a thread is a good idea. I still like the introductions, though, because it is always good to have someone be able to post for the first time after getting their FJ.

Maybe a new member could be allowed to post only an introduction and then have to post a few more times before they can start a new thread? Just a thought!

Or we could have an introduction thread. That way you can introduce yourself but the "active topics" section is swamped with intros.

I agree with the minimum posts thing. Another forum I belong to requires an adequate introduction that the moderators have to approve before allowing full posting priviliges...but that seems like more work for the mods.

So a rule that mandates that every new member post an introduction (that even they may have no interest in reading)... and a rule intended to cut down the number of posts... Well, maybe they'll cancel each other out.

Tried something similar. Moderators did a whole lotta nothing with it. Good luck.
A 33-7 vote of a minimum of 15 posts before creating a for sale thread (to keep those who just want to come on here and offload products and are not members or contributors to this forum at all).
Anything become of that? Nope. Do we still have spammers coming on here and selling crap all the time, Yep.

Let's go a step further: I want an automatic "welcome" auto-response to all new introduction thread.

This would save us a lot of time when people introduce them self :-)
