Lightbulb Make an introduction required

I have belonged to forums in the past that require a new member to introduce themselves in the introduction area and then post an x amount of times before they can start a new thread topic.

It cuts down a lot of people coming in and posting a repeated topic or question over and over again. A lot of these people just post once to get a quick answer... then they never come back again.

Just a thought?

Also... we should have a forum suggestions area? Because I have a few more.

Re: Make an introduction required

I agree! The search function isn't the best, but sometimes you can tell people don't even try. Good suggestion!

Re: Make an introduction required

I don't think an introduction is necessary but I think a minimum number of posts before starting a thread is a great idea.

Re: Make an introduction required

When I joined up I didn't post and introduction but I probably should have. I also have been a member of forums which required an introduction and then 10 posts prior to starting a new thread.

I also believe the search function works well you just need to know how to make it work for you. The site is filled with a lot of information so searchers need to be knowledgeable in search operators.

Re: Make an introduction required

Uh oh, I didn't have a intro.

Good idea though. Maybe it'll cut down on spam too.

Re: Make an introduction required

Its a decent idea but its not something Autoforums does on any of their other forums that I know of. Ill send it up the food chain.
