WAP Version?

Is there any way we could get some kind of a wap version of the forum for browsing on blackberry's, pda's, and cell phones? In my downtime at work I would love to be on the forums but cannot always get to a computer.... And the full version of the site is a little much for my poor blackberry to deal with. Thanks for any considerations, this site rocks!

Re: WAP Version?

Doubtful at best.
From reading the vendor's page on the base php code used for this site, it does not appear that this is supported out of the box, and I don't think that the admins here want to tackle this level of project.
This would require recoding the site to use XML and various XSL transforms keyed to the target (requesting) browser. It is possible to do this, but not trivial (and therefore is probably not going to happen).

My blackberry actually isn't bad on the picture threads... It just screws up text so it's hard to read. Even if a wap version couldn't be done could there be some kind of light skin which you can select when on phones that would get rid of the FJ cruiserforums header at the top and the avatars?

Re: WAP Version?

Do you only have WAP access? (I don't have a blackberry, so humor my lack of knowledge.) I have full http internet access on my cell and use Opera Mini to browse. The only threads I really have issues with is the highly photo-filled threads like "Pics of your Sun Fusions"...those just don't load. Otherwise, it's just like reading the threads on my laptop.

Hi, my name is Jen and I am so addicted to this site that on my cross-country drive I couldn't go more than 5 or 6 hours without checking the forum, and posting. Or surfing at work, when riding in the car with someone else, sometimes when I go out to eat. It's pathetic.

Anyway, if you can, you may want to try another browser. Of course, if you only have WAP access, I'm not sure that will work.
