Electric Brake Controller

In preparing the FJ for a Casita or Scamp trailer, is it difficult to install the RV 7 pole wiring for electric brake control? Anyone done it? Done a lot of hauling, but left installation to others. thanks

Not yet, but coming soon

I have had them installed by my local RV dealer on our old van and on my truck. Now I need one on the FJ for our 2,000 lb. tent trailer. I don't use trailer brakes on my lightweight canoe trailer.

I saw this on ebay

You can basically plug in your brake controller.

Re: Electric Brake Controller

We had one installed at the place where we bought our cute little 13 ft. Fun Finder trailer. We tried to get our Toyota Dealership to do it for us (as they agreed to do that as part of the sale) but they came up with every excuse in the world why they couldn't.

We are very happy with the way it tows our trailer.

Re: Electric Brake Controller

A relay part number would be helpful. Just ordered a 4Runner to haul, since the FJ seems not up to the task as set out in the Owner's Man, since the wiring isn't really designed around the 500/5000# set out in the literature. Too bad, but that's the way it is.
