quick bumper meaurement question

does anyone know the depth measurement of the lower edge of the bumper, right above the lower grill?

i was thinking of mounting some very small piaa fogs there (maybe 3" deep). if the depth is there, is there anything to attach lights to? or should i just bag the whole thing?

Post a pic of exactly what you want measured. From where to where? Do you mean the thickness?

Re: quick bumper meaurement question

i'm a computard and have had little luck in posting pics. i'll see if i can explain it a little better and if that doesn't work, i'll figure out how to get a pic on there.

i'm talking about the underside of the black part of the bumper. i need a measurement from the front edge--->back to the lower grille. it looks like the black part of the bumper sticks out a little, and the lower grille is recessed back into that area. i was thinking about mounting some lights to the underside surface on the black part, and right in front of the lower grille.

i was thinking of mounting these http://www.piaa.com/Lamps/Lamp-pages/1400.htm under there. you can see by the diagram that they have an overall depth of 3", but the bracket depth looks to be only about half of that measurement.

would this idea work, or no?

Re: quick bumper meaurement question

possibly. i hadn't intended on removing the lower grille though (it looks like he did).

i'm just kicking around some ideas to get four lights up front. i thought of an arb, or an expedition one, but i don't want to do a lift (right now) and don't want the added weight. the idea now is to install a manik brush guard--partially for looks, and partially for function. that takes care of the problems for mounting two lights--now i just have to figure out how to get two more up there. i thought of a combination of the manik and the dakar light bar, but i don't think it will fit. than i thought i could do the manik and a bull bar (like a westin) but i'm not sure just how crappy that would look. i still have some time, but i like to get these details ironed out so i can get to ordering stuff.

It's 1-1/8". The plastic bumper is too flexible so you'll need to fab some brackets to hold the fog lights. HTH.
