Re: But can I sleep in it? - FJC vs 4Runner

I'd love a roof tent, but they are expensive for as often as I'd use it. It works out better for me to put the gear up there and me inside.

And of course there's nothing wrong with a plain old tent. But sleeping in the vehicle is a nice option to have.

The girlfriend is from tropical latitudes and has no tollerance for cold weather so I'm easing her into camping carefully. I even bring along an electric blanket if we're parking near shore power.

Re: But can I sleep in it? - FJC vs 4Runner

why not just sleep on the roof racks, if you have a gobi or somthin like that, its easy.. while i was in iraq we had roof racks on the humvvs and one slept in the rear inside, another on the hood and another on the roof rack. and usually the one thats doin radio watch is in the front pasenger seat tryin to snooze but always got woken up but the screeth of the radio! lol..we dont need no stinkin air matress. theres always the soft soil for you!!
