Does anyone know if there is really a production limit for thr FJ this year? Seems a little unbelievable but I have seen the rumor on this sight several times. I need a link to real info if possible. My dealer says no. I am curious because I am planning on buying one afer my Jeep sells. I have an old Car and Driver that shows "expected production run" but no limits.

Rumor aside...Toyota has said numerous articles that they will not increase production for the first year. However, I've also read this and only came across it in one place...
"Toyota plans to build fewer than 50,000 [46,000 stated] FJ Cruisers in the first year. The new SUV goes on sale in March as a 2007 model. Production might be increased if demand is high; however, the FJ has to compete with it's own siblings— the Tacoma and Tundra pickups—for the 4.0-liter V6 engines. Considering the FJ Cruiser's practicality, striking looks and novel features, Toyota just might find itself with a capacity dilemma in 2006—not the worst problem an automaker could have."
With the success of sales it is posible production will spill over the original limit, but we're also close to the end of the year and the newer model will probably be offered before any significant production increase could take place IMHO.
WOOHOOO----200!!! ....now back to your regularly scheduled program...
My FJ Vin number says it's number 39998 off the line for 2007. Got mine on October 4th. There getting close to that 46,000 number.

Great reply. I actually just posted a similar (yet more detailed for what we're looking for) question in the Newbie forum.
Picked mine up on October 12 and the production number is 43941. It rolled off the production line in September. I would say that 46,000 units for North American has been revised, especially since 38583 unit were reported as sold by Toyota at the end of September.

Come on, do you really think Toyo would 'limit production' on a vehicle that is selling? It's like going to your local BBQ shack and the guy tells you there's no more ribs 'cuz he's sold his quota for the year! Sure, it's a little more complicated than that, budgets, contracts with suppliers, etc., but any company will increase production based on sales... The 46,000 was just a number based on estimated sales. Ford and GM should be so lucky!
If you go to the Toyota website and look under build your own, you should see the quantity of vehicles in your region. I pulled this up and there is a titanium 4wd with the production number 48408. If production numbers started at 1000 they have already passed the 46,000s. I used a southeast region zip.
If anything, they would balance production over the year . . . as opposed to producing a year's worth and then idling the plant for several months. I wouldn't be worried about them running out of FJs.
