Por 15

After my all pro bumper went on I had a few areas where the body of the FJ was exposed. Toyota did a great job of coating the wheel wells and helping with the rust proofing, however I had to cut part of the wheel well plastic away with the new bumper. I touched up the exposed areas with por 15. Looks great but, I was just curious if anyone had used it before and how it lasted in the long run?
Only issue I saw was that it does not hold up under direct sun light (not an issue in the wheel wells). They make a UV friendly mix which I may put on the bumper next time around.

Re: Por 15

Thinking of future projects, I something check in with the Locost message boards/Yahoo! group. People there are building car frames from scratch and they swear buy the stuff. Granted, they don't take their cars out in the rain much less off road.

Don't know what a Locost is? Check out this CD article from August.

Re: Por 15

Used the 3m undercoating (rubberized/black). Worked like a charm and will inhibit any rusty outcrops for generations to come. They will all thank me later.

Re: Por 15

I've used it before, great stuff. It's nice if you want thin coats, and it sticks to anything. This covered with a rubberized undercoating is a great combo.

Re: Por 15

tough stuff. I've used it on my old jeep and just recently used it on a steel pier and beam house foundation. Always used their topcoats too.

Re: Por 15

Thanks for all the replies. I will keep everyone up to date on how it fairs I used the chassiscoat black in the wheel wells. Northern Nevada is about the toughest place I have live on cars lots of gravel trucks, sand, and rocks everywhere. I hope it lives up to the hipe.

Here is a pic so the thread is not worthless everything behind the bumper, and above the frame rails was silver:

Thanks

Re: Por 15

we have a spray on undercoat by the can at work with "european texture"

I `ll take a pic of it and post it up on monday

as far as factory /deler undercoating ...this stuff is 90% cheaper and covers more area (the guy from the dealer is probaly still high from the fumes of the last rig he coated and has the good enuf attitude and he will never look here smirk)

The last truck i had I nver undercoated and after 6 years it finally showed surface rust on the wheel wells peeps use it for resale value but who is to say they didnt spray it 3 days before they sold it?

I`m unsold on undercoating but i`m not saying its bad or good.

remind me to post a pic of the product that I have no monetary stock share in .
