Burning smell from Heater

i noticed a smell that only comes on when i have the heat on. my FJ has only 500 miles or so, and it smells a little like burning leaves or pot. not so strong. i thought it was burning leaves from the outside, but i am noticing it frequently. is this just new car break-in stuff, or should i be concerned?

Check your filter behind the glove box. See if there is something trapped in it.

Re: Burning smell from Heater

The smell is probably just dust on the heater element volitilizing after the heater has been run for the first few times. It should dissapaite after 15-30minutes of use, if it doesnt I would have the dealer look at it.

Do you hide your stash in the vents?
Seriously, this would be a difficult thing to take to your dealer. They will try to pass you off. Dont let them. If the smell doesnt go away in about 20 minutes Id be at the dealer prepared to raise hell.
