sooo much easier than having to dig in your purse to find the remote, especially when you're carrying like 8 bags from GAP through the parking lot at the mall....

seriously though, at least you're talking aftermarket here, there is no need for that to come stock an the FJC. A lexus maybe, but not the FJ.

Re: Proximity door looks

Off the specific topic...

I wonder if it'll be possible to add remote door locks in the future (if needed for some reason)?
I'm thinking the wiring harness should be the same, so it ought to be a matter of adding the door servos, receiver & remote.

Reasonable or off base?

Re: Proximity door looks

you could certainly add an aftermarket setup, some higher-end alarms have this feature (as monster mentioned earlier).

factory? sure, i would think. usually the harness is the same regardless of installed options. it would probably be cheaper to go aftermarket though as stealerships tend to charge alot for electronic parts.

You are forgetting they are all elect locks anyways most of it is there ..Just a matter of getting the remotes and a receiver and figuring out where to plug it into....All this talk about adding this and that later to save a few dollars now is going to end up costing more later on than just getting them out the door..If you want it get it now end of story covered under warranty no problems mate

Re: Proximity door looks

you can pick up a simple remote keyless entry for 20-40$ and install it youself, its not too hard.

Re: Proximity door looks

The FJ will be my daily driver so why not make itas convenient as possible.
Ill be istalling the k9 for everyday use and an OME lift (I have a set that was originally for my 4runner) for the trails.
