Re: FJ Military Vets

Well, I guess this is as good a place as any for a first post.

US Army - 11 years in May.
SSG/E-6 and hopefully get picked up next year for E-7
2002-2007 11B (Schofield Barracks, HI -1/21 B CO, Deployed to Kirkuk, Iraq - Bull Base)
2007-Present 74D (Fort Stewart 4-3 BSB Chemical Recon PLT, Deployed to FOB Kalsu with 725th EOD)
Have also been stationed with NATO in Brunssum, Netherlands. Spent some time at DLI in Monterey, CA learning Spanish and am currently stationed at Ft. Lewis awaiting an Afghanistan deployment.

I traded in my 2012 4Runner trail edition for a 2008 FJ. My damn OCD wouldn't let me beat the damn thing up on trails. 40k is way too much to spend for some trail pin striping. So used the left over money for the FJ and a new Subaru for the wife

Re: FJ Military Vets

USAF - 1988-1998
Instructor Boom Operator
Just Cause, Desert Shield/Storm Southern Watch, Provide Comfort, Restore Hope, Deny Flight.

Army NG - 2007-Present
25B - 19th SFG (A) GSC
OEF-SOTF 92

Just about ready to call it quits. Everything is turning to **** and I just can't justify spending my time and energy serving anymore. Truly enjoyed the early years, but lately I just don't find the same satisfaction. Godspeed to those that serve and a hearty thank you to those that have.

We deal with the same BS everyone else does. Just one weekend a month, and 2 weeks in the summer.

Same basic training
Same AIT
Same Deployments.
Disagree completely. 9/10 units don't get the training or have the personel to compare to the NG, WORST decision of my life. Shoulda stayed active duty and completed my time. Thought I was gonna die everyday in the NG.

I am active duty army, even we don't get the proper train 90% of the time. We're deployed right now and 75% of our ppl are straight out of ait. I'm in a trans co. And half of the truck drivers are forklift drivers by mos and don't know the equipment or trucks there supposed to drive. I'm a mechanic and wrecker operator 91b h8, and I'm constantly having to repair and recover vehicles on the side of the road cause of there lack of training.

USN 31 YRS Submarines/Surface Craft/NAM Vet Retired in 1991 CWO
I loved every minute ok not every minute, but glad I stayed in retirement is good.
I feel for the young guys now but also proud of you all, in service and those who are out and had the experience.
