What is happening to the 2013 FJ

I have been looking for a new car here in Australia for about 6 months now and still really want the FJ, but in diesel..... so like every other man and his dog, I wrote to Toyota Australia and this is the response.


Thank you for your recent email received by the Toyota Customer Experience Centre.

We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your comments on producing a Diesel line for the Toyota FJ Cruiser. We must advise or though Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA) do not currently have the option available, there is a Technical change to the FJ cruiser due end 2012. We suggest you regularly visit Toyota's website for further details on vehicle release information and to contact your nearest Toyota Dealer for information on pre-ordering the vehicle.

It is feedback such as this that enables us to understand the true situation in the market place and what is important to our customers.

We have taken this opportunity to forward your email on to our Product Management Department, who will collate all such material for consideration when any model is under review for design and/or specification changes.

Id love to get my hands on a diesel FJ.. i've been looking into doing a swap with some Cummins engine but everything is too damn expensive for my budget

I think it is time for a redesign.

Pretty sure the FJC is a one and done design, and will expire in 2014-2015. I would not mind being proven wrong, however.

And all emails back and forth I had with Toyota said hybrid fj more likely than diesel. Which shows they are clueless...

I thought it has been common knowledge that the"Big Three" would NEVER allow Toyota to market a deisel truck in the U.S. Any body care to elaborate?
