Steps 1, 2, 3 now completed for FJ purchase!!!

I broke my FJ Cruiser purchase into 4 steps, and only have one more to go! Here it is:

1) Find a local Toyota dealer who will accept my EXACT FJ build order for
msrp-CHECK (used 2 different dealers as a "safety net")
2) Get pre-approved for loan at Credit Union-CHECK
3) Sell my current used vehicle privately to avoid the huge financial trade-in
hit and complicate the purchase transaction-CHECK
4) Complete sales tranaction when my 2007 FJ arrives. Looks like it may the
first or second week of April-NOT CHECKED

My steps are as follow:

1) Find a dealer who took my order BUT instead of a 4x4 they offer me a 4x2
2) Got pre-approved- CHECK
3) Sell my current car- (working on it)
4) Complete transaction (thinking about it since I don't really go off road- but really wanted the A-TRAC for when I go to the snow)

The 2WD model comes with a LSD as standard equipment. Check with your insurance carrier on Monday and ask what the annual premium difference is between 2WD and 4WD. If the FJ is not in the computer system yet, use a Tacoma model. It should be very similar. Post your findings on the Forum!!!

One thing to consider. If you trade your vehicle against the new purchase (in Kansas anyway) the sales tax is on the net price. Granted that the best you can hope for is wholesale blue book on your trade-in. But you can go in with the blue book knowledge and you don't have the hassle of advertizing or having five or six lookie-loos off the street testing your vehicle. Of course, the end game is to get the most value for your new purchase - less trade-in and less taxes.
