I think there are some threads in the camping equipment section that can help you there. While I'd love for you to take the rack off my hands, it sounds like you should save your pennies and get something else.
Swicago made something to put a regular tent on top of his rack. You might give him a shout.
Oh yeah... He has the rig he named booger, right? That was a cool roof rack setup.

The roof rack in the above link, except for the front cross bar, does it look pretty close to the factory one? Does it seem to be the same thickness and style?
