Safety Recall C0R (C1R) Preliminary Notice - TRD High Performance Brake Kit Accessory Equipment Recall Designed to fit 2007 to 2012 Model Year FJ Cruiser Vehicles
At the present time, Toyota is developing a remedy for this safety recall.
What is the Condition? The subject TRD Brake Kit is specifically designed for the front wheels of 2007–2012 model year FJ Cruiser vehicles. Due to the shape of the outer brake tube (Crossover Tube) of the Brake Kit, the clearance between the outer brake tube and a TRD 16–inch 6–Spoke alloy wheel is small. If wheel balance weights are installed in an incorrect location, there is a possibility that the outer brake tube could be damaged due to interfere with the balance weight, and brake fluid could leak from the damaged tube. This could result in increased stopping distance, and in some cases, loss of vehicle front braking performance, which could increase the risk of a crash.
When will the Remedy be Available: The remedy procedures will be provided to each dealership shortly. At which time, Toyota will notify owners of covered vehicles by first class mail. Additional information will be posted on this site once the remedy is available.
Interesting... I see the same message when I login to the website..
Problem is, I have 17 inch Alloys, not 16 inch. (Well, had 17 alloys, now 17 inch Steelies) Wonder what they'll do?

I assume that is a general heads up for anyone who added the TRD brakes. No FJs come with the big break kit, it is an add on not from the factory. Maybe the previous owner had the TRD big brakes added by the dealer. I would figure out if your FJ has the big brake kit. If it doesn't, that message you see is a general announcement, not specific to your truck ..

Maybe the dealer had installed the big brake kit prior to your purchase....I'm sure there is a way to eyeball the current setup to see if they are standard or big brakes. If you do have the big brakes its like a $3000 add on.
