Lightbulb Wheelchair user FJ info

Since the FJ works so well for loading my wheelchair I thought I’d post some valuable info.

1.) Since the rear door hinges on the rear that is plenty of room to load the chair.

2.) If I fold the rear seat down behind the driver’s seat and open the rear door I can access part of the back area. Although I am 6 ft. 3” and have long arms a long snowbrush works well to access anything I cannot reach.

3.) If a lift is necessary Ryno Mobility WHY DRIVE A VAN? DRIVE A RYNO TRUCK!! is capable of modifying vehicles with rear hinge – rear doors but not sure if they have done an FJ

PM me and I can send you a video of my entering and exiting the vehicle if you know of someone that is interested.

Good info, thanks! My son is really looking forward to learning to drive and then wheel with handcontrols. Good thing I'm already grey. LOL

Re: Wheelchair user FJ info

I get in like a typical driver, but feet first then grab the grab handle and throw in the buns! I take the rear wheels off the chair and toss it all in the back seat.

If someone (or two) wants to ride with me I fold down the driver's side rear seat and I can toss the chair in the "way back" area. Yep, I'm 6'3" and have long arms.

Stock height FJ but modified biceps! 17 years in a chair dragging around legs that have a mind of their own makes one a little stronger than the common man.

No video yet - darn work keeps getting in the way of my fun. Besides I have not perfected my entry and exit yet.

Thanks for the encouragement and the points gang!

Re: Wheelchair user FJ info

Well Sir I am happy for you. I am glad it is working out well, and that you seem to be pretty happy with your purchase. Any pics you could do may definitly help some others that may be wheel chair users, or others as well. Great Thread.
