Question Seat belt alarm

I've seen talk of disabling the seat belt alarm. Can someone explain to me how to do this? I would appreciate it. The thing drives me crazy!!!

Re: Seat belt alarm

Seat belt chime
1. Turn the ignition switch on (without starting car)
2. Press the ODO/TRIP switch until the odometer displays "ODO"
3. Turn the ignition switch off
4. Turn the ignition switch on
5. Press ODO/TRIP switch immediately (within 6 seconds after turning the power switch ON) and hold it down for 10 seconds or more.
6. Continue holding the ODO/TRIP switch and fasten the front passenger's seat belt.
7. Check that the odometer displays either "b-on" or "b-off" (it will be "b-on")
8. Press the ODO/TRIP button to change the display to "b-off".
9. Turn the ignition switch off.
10. Turn the ignition switch on while depressing the brake pedal.
11. Check that no buzzer sounds when setting on the front passenger seat.

Thanks, Butkus we needed a new thread regarding this issue...search works even better now.

FYI This works equally as well if you do it with the driver's seat, and disables both sides.

No, really...I like your thread title better actually.

It will probably result in the search finding the answer to disabling this annoying little feature quicker.

(actually reading that little white/orange owner's manual that came with your vehicle would be quicker)

Thumbs up Re: Seat belt alarm

Try FJAdict's advice. Worked perfectly. No more annoying "chime", as they call it.
While your at it, pop out the stupid "beeper" under the hood for you keyless entry.
There will be peace in the neighborhood and only the sweet music of the roar of your engine.

Re: Seat belt alarm

1. get standard claw hammer
2. sit down in fj
3. turn key to the 'run' position and listen for seatbelt warning chime
4. hit the dash with the hammer in the general area where the sound is coming from

Re: Seat belt alarm

This is exactly what I was looking for and couldn't find with search. I tried Seatbelt; seatbelt warning; seatbelt warning buzzer but didn't think to use the word alarm.

No matter, I can go turn off that annoying alarm now.

Thanks,

Roll

Re: Seat belt alarm

Caveman solution,
1) pull seatbelt from the passenger side.
2) insert seatbelt into recepticle.
C'mon people, seatbelts save lives. I know there are gonna be the folks who have a personal or urban ledgend of how their "insert personal story here" was saved by not wearing a seatbelt. If you put items on your passenger seat and the blinking bothers you then ,1.
Also check the manual on how to disarm the airbag. Actually helpful if you have to put a child seat in the front, I stress If you have to.
