FJC, Titan, or Taco Double Cab...

I have narrowed my choices down to three vehicles:

1) Base 4WD FJC Auto w/all weather floor mats, hood deflector, tow hitch.
$24,000

2) My brothers mint condition 2004 Nissan Titan Crew Cab w/15,000 miles.
Fully loaded SE model. For those of you who have not driven this 5.6L 305 hp MONSTER with a forged crank and 6 bolt main...WOW!!! The torque on
this thing must me driven to appreciate. And the exhaust note is better
than a Ford GT Mustang. The engine/tranny combo ROCKS!!!
$20,000

3) New 2006 Tacoma Double Cab shortbed. Local dealer is advertising them
at a great price this weekend (6 available). They have an MSRP of
$26,318. See ad below.
$21,995

My family and I will check out the new FJ and Taco DC this weekend. Decisions...

I'm not considering the Titan. Let us know what you think about the taco compared to the FJC.

the titan's a huge truck. Taco is probably 1ft shorter. Taco is probably more of a utility vehicle that can also be off roaded. FJC is probably a nicer DD.

If you find this Holy Grail of FJCdom, please feel free to let us know where we can get one, too. This would be my choice.

The Nissan Titan is easily as reliable as the Chevy Colorado, and both have been named 'the worst' on many different reliability, customer service and quality lists. Your brother's truck may be an exception, or it may not be.

Well, it is a Toyota. The one thing I do notice, though: of the vehicles you've posted, only the FJC is 4WD. If you don't need 4WD, then it seems kind of silly to get it. If you do need it, then neither of the other trucks would be in the running.

Of the choices you've posted, I personally like the FJC.

Your pal,
Meat.

FJ (if you can find one optioned like that) or Tacoma. the titan is HUGE. Taco is probably more practical, if you dont mind not having 4x4.

Re: FJC, Titan, or Taco Double Cab...

I'm trading in my 2004 Titan to purchase the FJC next week. I had high hopes when I bought the truck new and the thing has disappointed me ever since. Given your 3 choices, IMO you'll have to decide between truck (taco) or SUV (FJC). BTW, the titan gulps gas for that throaty exhaust.

Re: FJC, Titan, or Taco Double Cab...

Having owned both I'd hold out for the FJ.

Re: FJC, Titan, or Taco Double Cab...

I'd have to say go with the taco doublecab. Yeah the fj is hot right now but the tacos have great market depreciation(just check out ebay) It will be some time before you can get the configuration you want on the fj at that price. Check out consumer reports before you consider a Titan.(not too good, hence resale will hurt)
