Nah mate, throw caution to the wind and enjoy that truck.

I had some trepidation about my decision as I've never owned a vehicle like this before. Mostly been rice-rockets and some old-ass Celicas. But when I drove the FJ for the first time, I was hooked. It was going to take a lot to get me out of my WRX, and the FJ sure did. Sh*t eating grin...........oh yes.

Re: having second thoughts maybe

Moongoa, take your time...go to various dealers acting as if it is your first time considering the vehicle and test drive the rig as many times as possible...one of my worst vehicle purchase resulted from falling in love with a car because it was a novelty (not to mention the new car smell) and, a couple weeks after purchase and having driven it daily, I kicked myself in the arse...uncomfortable and just plain tiring to drive. I am not saying the FJ will end up in this category, but it is obviously a personal decision and one which should be made with thought and conviction (IMO)...don't get blinded by the fear that if you don't make your purchase right away they will all be sold out from under you and you will end up having to settle for something else...there will be plenty to go around in the coming weeks and months. BTW, I am 6' tall and also had to raise the steering wheel to avoid having it rub on my knees when turning, no big deal, once in the right position it was a dream to drive and, no I am not a soothsayer of doom and gloom, I'll be buying one as soon as my order comes in. Just my two cents.

Moon, I was all worked up and way tense the week before purchasing the FJ. I had doubts rising up about whether or not I deserved such a vehicle. It is my first brand new car and I have owned about 12. The FJ is just so different than any other vehicle out there. Sort of a class all its own. It's got quirks for sure. The low visibility in front (leaning foward or stoping short to see traffic lights), and poor left shoulder vis, too. But after being reserved about the purchase myself, I can Honestly say: GET THE FJ!
I noticed the steering wheel fit is a bit strange, too and I'm 5'8" 150. But the things not an LR3! I will learn quickly to live with and love the idiocincracies of my VBFJ. If you truely have been pining over FJ and her abilities, and you purchase one, you will not be dissapointed. When forking over that much cash for anything, it's never gonna be an easy decision, but Toyota makes it real friggin close to a no brainer.

Re: having second thoughts maybe

At least, go test drive it 1st. What are your 1st impressions. That says a lot. Come back and if you still can't decide, we'll help you. My biggest decision now is the new tacoma or the fj. But after I test the taco, i'll have a bette idea. Crazy huh? I've test the FJ but not the taco yet and they've been out over a year now.

Re: having second thoughts maybe

ohh how I can relate, my fj may be here tommorow and I have those last minute 2nd thoughts...(mpg, kinda up there car payment...). But damn, if it's not gonna break you, it moves you like no other ride, and you need a ride...ya gotta work/live to pay more than freakin bills!

...atleast that's what the little rationalizing voices in my head were saying as I couldn't get to sleep last night.

If you're not sure - don't drive one. You WILL buy it!

Re: having second thoughts maybe

Sorry to be a wet blanket...I've been a real cheerleader on this forum until I actually saw the FJ.
I was expecting a sporty SUV, a rough and ready descendent of the original Land Cruiser that could carry the family yet climb trees with gusto. What I found is basically a Brinks truck.
It is extremely heavy, very tall, bad on gas, and has pathetic sight lines. The ground clearance is not much better than my Suzuki Samurai, which is a true off-road vehicle.
I was all ready to place an order for an FJ, but the crush is over. This is not the vehicle I was hoping for. I will keep looking, and best wishes to all of you new FJ owners. It is just not for me.
