Hi ! new guy lovin the fj

Hi
I currently own a 2000 Jeep TJ (85000 miles ) and I love it , Thought I would keep it forever....but this FJ Cruiser looks irresistable.
Anyone here actually own a new FJ ? A comparison to the Wrangler would be great .

I think I need a Voodoo Blue FJ loaded , its got a great look and the specs look great too.

Use the search function. Do a search for reviews on the FJ. There are plenty.

Re: Hi ! new guy lovin the fj

My wife had a deal set on a new TJ Unlimited as it was a left over 05 and 8 thousand dollars less than the FJ. She simply could not ignore the price difference between the two vehicles.

We went to the Toyaota dealership to get my deposit back and I talked her into a drive just so we could say we had. She turned to me before we had gotten out of the parking lot and said "I want one!"

There is no comparison in my mind, the FJ trounces the Jeep in every catagory with the exception of a removable top, which was very important to us. The ride is vastly superior both on and off road, the A-Trac is amazing, and the Cool Factor is off the chart!

We are having a ball driving around like celebrities, the public reaction is crazy. People will follow you until you stop to talk to you about it.

We picked it up Sat. morning and went out driving in all conditions and 500 miles later I can say that we are thoughly impressed with all aspects of this vehicle, it has exceeded my expectations and they were high. ( For reference, I have a built cherokee with front and rear lockers, 6" lift and 33's, a stock cherokee with 31's and a YJ with 4" lift, 33's and a rear locker)

We have decided to buy a second one with in two years for a his and hers set. I hope they have a topless version by then.

BUY ONE WHILE YOU STILL CAN!

Thank you for your post. I found it very informative. As I noob to 4x4's, it's nice to read a realistic review from someone who has own numerous lifted jeep vehicles. Sure the FJ has its' drawbacks, but doesn't everything? When you look at it as a complete package, there just doesn't seem to be anything out there that compares. Sure jeep wranglers have a cult following in the rock crawling world, but it is one of the most relatively expensive, bare bones, unreliable vehicles out there. I am assuming most of us have to work 40 hrs a week and after family responsibilities, have less time to play. I'd much rather have something like the FJ.

HUH?? Unreliable ?? Thats not my experience with my TJ . I have had extremely reliable miles with my Tj 85000 miles and no defects ....honestly!
I agree its overpriced for what it offers and its definately bare boned , but I have had 85000 care free miles of service from my TJ .
Im lookin at the FJ because dollar for dollar it offers a lot more of everything , I just hope its as reliable as my wrangler.

Max-9,

I'm not here to bash jeeps, have owned them, the last being a 2001 60th anniv. edition wrangler. But,,,, I have also owned several toyota and you will definitely not be disappointed with reliability. I think jeep has the engine and tranny down, just fit and finish issues out the ***. I had numerous recalls on my wrangler. Both great vehicles, but once you go toyota I don't think you'll go back, I haven't. Enjoy and welcome whatever your decision is.

Thanx fer the input.

First tank was 490 km or 292.5 km and it took 49.9 ltrs or 10.98 Imp. gals
(13.3 US) so I got 26.63 mpg Can or 21.99 mpg US. Good enough for me, there was some trail miles on there too!

Lots of power when you step on it. The automatic trans is programmed perfectly! The shifts points are great and it has significant engine braking when descending in 4 Low.

The only shortcoming I have found so far is the exhaust crossover under the motor. It is already flattened for clearance and I have tagged it twice already. Will be looking for an aftermarket solution soon.

Sorry, just saw that one. I live on Vancouver Island and most of our trails are tight, twisty and scratchy. My lifted Cherokee is just the rig for here, cheap (relatively), capable and disposable. Body damage is a fact of life for hardcore 4x4ing around here.

The FJ will be set up and used for expedition type trips to Moab, Rubicon, etc.. I am thinking 3" lift, 33's or 34"S, bumpers and some skids and I am done.
