Just Got Tire Recall Letter In Mail - Quick Question!

Since the original tires (Dueler H/T's) slide all over the place in the snow (albeit a good street tire) will the dealerships let me pay the extra for a pair of BFG A/T's? Or will they put another set of H/T's on it no matter what?

BTW - I did call my dealership and ask if my vehicle was one of them with the actual tires getting replaced, they ran the VIN and said yes

My dealer wouldn't work nice with me so I made a deal at a local tire shop and drove the brand new one's over and got a good deal on the BFG's.

most likely not a chance. they have to put on a factory authorized tire for that wheel. if they put something else on that ended up causing an accident or something along those lines, that would open them up for lawsuits like crazy. this puts all the heat on toyota.

Correct me if I'm wrong but BFG's did come on some of production models (of the FJ that is)!

on a 16" rim. if it was approved for an option on the 17" wheel, then sure, they would probably do it in a heartbeat. but they probably found that the shorter sidewall on the 17" and BFG combo didnt meet their standards in testing or something.

Re: Just Got Tire Recall Letter In Mail - Quick Question!

My letter from 5 months ago stated that if I had an invoice w/ new tire price that they would send me a check . Sent out that info and have still not heard a response, nor do I believe I ever will (bastiges). I had the recall originally and brought it into toyota and they said everything was fine. Then 2 weeks later receive another notice stating that tires needed to be replaced I figured I might as well have the BFG AT's put on instead of getting the same lame bridgstones put back on. Where is my check for 5 tires??????

Lightbulb Re: Just Got Tire Recall Letter In Mail - Quick Question!

So Toyota just got around to sending you a letter? I thought all the tire swapping was over. Did they by any chance have VIN#'s in the letter that weren't included last time?

I ask cause it appears that you bought your FJ the same day I bought mine
