NEWB :) FJ questions, looking to purchase

Sorry if this has been asked a million times! Did a search and didnt find exactly what I was looking for.

Here's the deal...Looking to trade in my...gulp...H2 for an FJ. I am a regular at Paragon, and tackle some pretty tuff stuff with the stock H2 (well..almost stock...except for 35" nitto mud grapplers).

I dont think I want to lift the FJ, although I would definitely trade out the stock treads for something more aggressive. I guess I might have to upgrade the UCP for something a little beefier too.

The question is, has anyone here wheeled Paragon or similar, and if so, what is the most difficult level of trail that I could expect to handle with a near-stock FJ? (driver skill aside).

I'd appreciate all input and suggestions.

Thanks again for your help, and looking forward to being part of the FJ community.

Its good to see someone who actually wheels their H2, even if they aren't held in the highest regards my some here.

I have never been to paragon so I wont be much help answering your question specifically.

If you do some time reading on here, you will see that the FJ is a pretty capable rig out of the box. With the right shoes, I think you will fare well at Paragon.

Welcome to the boards!

Thanks for the responses. Yes, it truly looks like the FJ is pretty awesome right from the box, and I'm excited about getting one. I wheel the hell out of my h2...and as much of a bad rap us H2 guys get, we're not all bad dudes! We all enjoy wheeling, so who cares what ya drive...

I do think the FJ has a bunch of advantages...including being able to fit in tighter spaces. One of my biggest issues on the trails in the H2 is having to settle for lines that I would not normally choose, due to the width of the truck and the narrowness of the trails.

I dont think that ground clearance will be much of an issue, as the FJ will probably attain about 10" with bigger tires, which is just less than what I get now. Approach and departure might be a little bit of an adjustment for me, i will have to get used to picking some different lines than usual. FJ has better breakover and water fording, so no worries there. I didnt see side slope info in the toyota site...but I would assume that the FJ is pretty resistant to tipping...

If everything works out, I'll prob pick one up within the next week. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Anyone who has wheeled at paragon, please feel free to throw in your $.02!

Thanks again
