What are owners thoughts on the compass, temp, and inclo, gauges?

What do you owners think of the trio of gauges? How useful are they? Any problem viewing them in bright sunlight? Feedback please.

I think they are great. First class tools for off roading. I've seen so many FJ40s where people rig these gauges in some how and I always think it looks tack.

They are on every FJC I've seen so far (15+/-) so I'm not sure you have much choice unless you hold out for a bare bones stock FJC. I hear they will be slow coming.

This was a stock option offered by Toyota. Some 80's pickups and 4Runners had them too!

My thoughts: The compass is digital and neat, but sticks from time to time and appears to only show a 45 degree resolution (N, S, E, W, NE, NW, SE, SW). I like the temperature readout too. The inclinometer is definitely a neat item to see, regardless of its day-to-day usefulness!

Don't forget the Tercel.

I am embarressed to admit but I almost bought a early montaro just for the inclometer.

I can't get the compass to calibrate correctly. It's weird I go "west" on one street then I go the opposite way and it says I am going "nort" oh well. Temp gauge is awesome so is the inclinometer

Compass does stick. Sometimes you have to do a 90 deg turn before it moves.
Not very sensitive! Is there a fix from Toyota coming?

As Ralph said, the compass is really a digital compass that is then 'output' to the analog compass display. You only get 8 directions with this, so if you stay within the 45 degree 'cone' of a direction, it won't budge an inch...
